Weapons & Equip A way to fix Demon Scythe's place in the progression

Heliodoros

The Destroyer
Demon Scythe is overpowered, and you can get it pre-Boss (it cuts through WoF and Skeletron like butter), that's why I've came up with the next idea.
  • Demon Scythe now would be found in Locked Shadow Chests' loot pool as additional item with much rarer chance, just like Fledgling Wings in Sky Chests.
  • It means that you can still get this weapon from fishing in Lava (Shadow Lockboxes).

Even if is technically "pre-boss", Demons can easily kill you if you don't have a proper armor nor weapon

Same as the Floating Islands, even if you can access from the start, you'll have to deal with Arpies what can easily overwhelm you if you don't have proper items

The Jungle Temple is also Pre-Boss if you use Hoiks to enter

Th Dungeon is also Pre Skeletron if you summon other boss to prevent the Dungeon Guardian to spawn

Brute Force has not to be consider to fix progression

It doesn't need to have a much rarer chance of being in shadow chests, it's roughly as good as the hellwing bow or night's edge against the WoF and making it as rare as fledgling wings would cripple mage against the WoF. Even just making it post-skeletron would cripple mage as mage doesn't have any other good options against skeletron.

Diamond / Amber Staff, Thunder Zapper are actually crazy against Master Mode Skeletron. Especially with Magic Power potions. You'll be able to defeat it under 4 minutes. With Demon Scythe it takes 1 minute, which is bonkers.

And how long with ranger/melee/summoner? 4 minutes is pretty bad all things considered, and that would be cutting it close on legendary.

Don't take as reference your experience as someone who can easily play in Master Mode difficulty

All changes or fixes has to be though for new players or in Classic mode

Unless a new player has the info of how get powerful items at the beginning, it probably won't go directly to hell to get the Demon Scythe or similar powerful items (Star Fury, Water bolt, 2 Orbs/Hearts, Enchanted Sword, etc)

Unless that player is tryhard, at the moment it see that demons can easily kill it for its lack of equipment, it will turn back and search another area to progress

This is the same reason why it doesn't has too much sense lock the Star fury in Floating Islands's chest, Arpies already do that

Personally, the Demon Scythe is fine where it is. It is extremely hard to get in early Pre-HM, since Demons can deal massive damage in one hit, even in lower difficulties. I am not actually a fan of the weapon against anything besides the Wall of Flesh, since it is annoying to aim.

It's not that hard to get pre-boss, just bring a starfury to hell and box yourself (grenades/recall for bone serpents.)

water bolt, if you play 1.3, (and you're lucky)
