PS4 Angler quest issue on multiplayer world

I'm playing on a PS4 multiplayer world with a friend and for some reason every time I complete the angler's quest, I can't do a new quest the next day or any other day. It just says that Ive already given him a fish for that day. The only way I can resolve this at the moment is rejoining his world every new day and it seems to refresh his angler quest for me which is still annoying.
