Can't pick up items

Hi everyone,
After a good 10minutes of digging I realised that my character wasn't looting items...
My first reaction was to check my inventory... it wasn't full... maybe I was lagging so I stayed on a random item that I dropped for 5minutes and it still didnt wanna loot it...
Maybe the server was lagging... I logged off and logged back in and then dropped a random item to see if it did fix the problem but unfortunatly it didn't change the problem...
I searched on google and someone said try uninstalling terraria, which I did and then reinstalled it... but the problem stayed the same...
Now I can't find a fix to my problem and I need to kill the wall of flesh soon but it has to wait now.
I need help!

A bit late but do you have the new item "encumbering stone" in your inventory? It prevent you pick up items.

I also freak out when it happen to me, thought it is a bug, thankfully it's not.

@Atamazon , I was going crazy here! My terraria is in english and they use some difficult words lol

It may be 4 years later but this item also prevents players to pick up items if it's on your piggy bank, so if you don't have it on your inventory, check there.
