Items Devourer/Blood Crawler transformation mounts?

Hello!

This might be my most complicated suggestion so far, but since we're getting a bunch of transformation mounts already, why not Devourer and/or Blood Crawler ones as well (either works)?

Let's start by explaining the Corruption item first:

Eater of Charms
Type: Mount summon
Tooltip: Grants the wearer a fraction of the power of the Corruption
"Now you too can swim through blocks like never before!"

Rarity: Orange
Sell: 1 Gold
Research: 1 required

Recipe: Shadow Scale (15) + Worm Tooth (6) + Vile Powder (3) + Demonite Bar (10) @ Demon/Crimson Altar
Alternatively, this item could be dropped by the Eater of Worlds at a 1/15 (6.67%) chance.

It appears as a miniature Devourer eating its own tail to form a necklace.

As for how this item would work:
You would consist of 10 segments all with the same defense (to simplify things a bit), and would control the head with the rest of your body following you.
Whenever you transform, you would start flat on the ground, then you could start digging upwards, forward or downwards, but not backwards. You can now "swim" through blocks and liquids like a worm enemy!

Player Devourers can reach about the same top speed as the enemy, cannot fly and are not affected by extra-jump accessories, but can gain momentum from digging and launch themselves into the air. They are also immune to fall damage and can still use items, visually using their teeth to hold them.

To balance things out, you cannot dig into blocks that your strongest Pickaxe cannot mine. So for example, if you don't have a Molten Pickaxe (or stronger) in your inventory, you cannot dig into Hardmode ore. You also cannot dig into Lihzahrd Bricks until Plantera has been defeated, or you have at least a Picksaw.

You can also only mine blocks while your head is exposed.

To differentiate players from enemies, the former would have a slightly desaturated body and make muffled digging noises. Alongside this, their eye color also matches with your character's. Here is an example with the default Terrarian:

While you can now dig through blocks, you are still more vulnerable to the usual threats like enemies, lava and traps, which can now hit any of your segments to damage you. Being hit once will still proc invincibility frames for your entire body, however.

To avoid getting stuck, you cannot turn back into a human while your head is inside blocks.

With all of that said, the Crimson counterpart is much easier to explain, thankfully:

Blood Charm-ler
Type: Mount summon
Tooltip: Grants the wearer a fraction of the power of the Crimson
"Look out, here comes the Crawler man"

Rarity: Orange
Sell: 1 Gold
Research: 1 required

Recipe: Tissue Sample (15) + Vertebra (6) + Vicious Powder (3) + Crimtane Bar (10) @ Crimson/Demon Altar
Alternatively, this item could be dropped by the Brain of Cthulhu at a 1/15 (6.67%) chance.

Since the Blood Crawler does not have any unique drops like the Devourer's Worm Tooth, this recipe instead calls for 6 Vertebrae.

The item appears as a miniature Blood Crawler with its front legs extended to form a necklace.

Player Blood Crawlers are only slightly faster than their enemy counterparts (around 20 mph) and cannot fly, but pressing the Up button will allow you to climb on background walls! Simply press the Jump or Grapple buttons to stop climbing. You can, of course, still use items as well, visually using your mandibles to hold them.
Unlike their Corruption cousins, they are affected by extra-jump accessories, but can still take fall damage (although it is halved).

Players have more desaturated colors to differentiate them from enemies.

Extra details:
-Both player Devourers and Blood Crawlers will make their respective hurt sounds instead of the usual ones
-The enemies will still damage you, unfortunately. They see right through your disguise

That's about it for the ideas - let me know what you think or if you have any questions :)

I feel like the corruption transformation is op since you can justdig through any block, anywhere. Maybe it should only be able to dig 10 blocks away from air, can only use items when the head is exposed, and can only dig through blocks that your strongest pickaxe in your inventory can. Also the eye should be the same as your character's eye colour and both the worm and blood crawler should have your player's helmet on to make it clearer what's a plyer and enemy. And it would look silly :p

Thanks for the feedback- I did try out the helmet thing with Shadow and Crimson armor but it ended up not looking quite right unfortunately :( That would probably require new sprites for each helmet. Would be fun to draw though

With how strong the Devourer is I've decided to also buff the Crawler a bit, now it takes halved fall damage instead of it being reduced by 20%

Block the digging into the temple before plantera is down
Thanks for letting me know, I kinda forgot the Temple exists when I posted this so I've fixed that now

Last update for now-
I've finally finished the artwork for this piece and I've also decided to just make player Crawlers desaturated like their Corruption counterparts. Not much else otherwise
I've never drawn a spider before but I think I did an okay job with the Crawler
