Potions run out in the middle of combat. Usually that's no big deal, you just press B again. But for Summoning, that's a different story. If Summoning runs out you lose one of your minions, and if you drink the potion you have to summon that one minion again. And before a boss battle, you have to remember to summon an extra minion right before it starts.
This is a minor inconvenience. So, i propose that the summoning potion simply gives you 1 more of your most summoned minion when you drink it. 90% of the time you don't mix minions, after all.
