Yeah, this was due to a back-end fix to the name of the item, which unexpectedly resulted in its research status being reset.
"Reverting" the fix now would just do it all over again, so there's really no way to fix it, but it is a 1 time thing. Unfortunate, but its already done now and can't be undone, unfortunately.
