Have you ever wanted to see deep into a cave before diving straight in to a pit of blackness? Have you ever wanted to see through walls to find ores or gems? Well I present to you... The Flashlight and Beamlight!

The Flashlight
The Flashlight is an item found in underground cabins that can be turned on or off with right click. When it is on, it shines a light almost to the edge of the screen that is 3 blocks thick. The beam points wherever your mouse does.

The Beamlight
An upgraded flashlight, made with a Flashlight, 15 Hellstone ingots, 10 souls of light, and 5 Mythril/Orichalcum, the Beamlight will shine through up to 10 solid blocks. This will allow you to find ores that are hidden behind the walls, instead of digging around and hoping to find something.


For people who immediately want to spam hate crime for the beam light: The Beamlight only lets you see 10 blocks, which is almost as many blocks as you can see when you break a stone block with your pick in the center of a stone field and place a torch within it. It is also something you can only get in hardmode, making it nearly worthless except for finding hardmode ores. Please think before posting. :l

Although it is technically a functional upgrade to both of these, so in theory all three can be added?
Still, I don't see myself using the Flashlight and Beamlight nearly as much as I would use the Scan Cannon, which kind of makes the previous two obselete.

No, It's not useless in Hardmode: Chlorophyte, and maybe even Hallowed Ore. Don't beat yourself down. Plus, pretty good suggestion!
