Hi. Gem trees do not grow near the light source, even if the light is turned off. Same issue with Gamspark Blocks and torches. I tested it on multiplayer, but I'm pretty sure it acts the same on single.

Light levels have nothing to do with Gem Tree growth, AFAIK this is a myth that's circulated on the wiki.

Your trees likely aren't growing because there isn't enough space for them/they are only on a single block of stone.

I did an experiment to confirm this:

Most tree types require a block of "soil" to the left and right of the block they are planted on to grow. Try placing more stone at the base of the saplings and see if they start growing

You are right. Some of them grew with lights on.
