Items Hardmode Mana Potions needs a rebalance (with popular explanation)

Heliodoros

The Destroyer
We have two Hardmode options for mana potions in Hardmode:
  • Greater Mana Potion - restores 200 MP. Bought from Wizard.
  • Super Mana Potion - restores 300 MP. 15 of these are crafted w/ 15 Greater Mana Potions, Fallen Star, Unicorn Horn and Crystal shard.
The thing is that you can get a lot of Super Mana Potions right from the start of Hadrmode, maybe after little bit of farming in Hallow.
Considering Alchemy Table's chance to preserve ingredients you can easily craft 300+ of these potions in less than 15 minutes.
Without any Arcane modifiers Player has 300-320 MP (with Clairvoyance buff), which means that Player can restore whole mana with one potion... right from the start of the Hardmode. It completely overshadows Mana Regeneration Potion because you will make a lot more damage in spite of Mana Sickness.

I suggest moving this potions closer to the Endgame and make it's recipe little more scary. Down below is an example;

  • Add Ectoplasm into recipe. Ectoplasm used for Magic equipment, so why not?

I think mana given by armor and accessories should also be rebalanced at this point. Mostly because after hallowed armor, that gives 100 MP, mana given by armor goes down by progression: Chlorophyte Armor gives 80 MP and then both spectre and nebula sets give only 60 MP. It just doesn't make sense.

Well, at least you have crazy amount of damage. Also you can get couple of Arcane reforges. They are kinda alright with Meteorite / Spectre armor.

This is a completely unnecessary change. Mana balancing almost isn't real, because there are very few weapons that consume enough mana to actually suffer from the DPS drop of Mana Sickness. As long as you have max mana and a decent mage setup, you can really use whatever kind of mana recover system you want. And they don't overshadow the Mana Regeneration potion, because using that allows you to take off the Mana Flower (and its upgrades) and replace it with a different accessory, such as one that gives you more damage. Super Mana Potions being this easily obtainable is just something that enables build variety.
