I mean you can already get demon scythe pre-boss and I'd say that's a bit much. But I do agree that maybe it shouldn't be spinal tap specifically. Yes and Demon Scythe stays the best mage weapon throughout of all of pre-hardmode.I mean you can already get demon scythe pre-boss and I'd say that's a bit much.

You can get hellstone pre-boss if you kill 8 creepers (on average in master, in expert it’s 5 and in Classic it’s 3) from brain of cthulhu and then recall or die to the boss, so when talking about Hell “pre boss” is already everything except shadow chests. Developer intent is for demon scythe and hellstone to be after bosses, so when talking about balance we should treat hell as being intended for after evil bosses are killed.The Spinal Tap is a bit much, being that you could then get it pre-boss

Yeah, that's reasonable.It should only drop it post skeletron, or st least post Evil boss
