PC How to turn off gore & blood

Wanna give your 0.001 year old Terraria, but can't because its too gory?
Well, I found a text string in config.json called
"GoreVisualsAllowed": true,

Turn this off if you're planning on giving terraria to your little mates.
I don't think anyone knows this.

There's actually an option ingame to disable blood and gore, so there's no need to go in to any of the files. I personally turn them off to reduce visual clutter, especially in places like the underground jungle where there can often be a bunch of loot and gore on the floor and it's hard to tell what's there.

This feature turns all blood everywhere into puffs of smoke, so that means that ANYWHERE there is blood it gets changed (yes, including skeletron existing.)

Yeah it makes the crimson heart look more like an infinitely deflating balloon or something. It definitely makes some parts of the game rather weird looking but I'm glad they thought to put it in as an option. I can imagine some parents seeing the blood and gore and being upset that their kids are playing it so hopefully the option has saved some poor kids from being robbed of this game by overprotective parents.
