Mobile Issues with local multiplayer on mobile

Me and my mate, we're on the same Wifi, he hosts his world but when I go on multiplayer>local it doesn't show up. Not reporting a bug yet as it could be user error. Also it's all journey mode worlds with journey mode characters if that changes anything. Thanks

Are you both in the same area? (like in the same house if you are at a friend's place for the day)
Local multiplayer requires that all players are in the same area and connected to the same wifi.
