NPC Weapons Only Challenge Question

I've been doing an NPC weapons only challenge meaning I'm only using the weapons town NPCs drop upon death or weapons that they sell. Would it make sense to also allow weapons that npcs use but don't drop or sell? (for example the clockwork assault rifle, which the steampunker uses)

I wouldn't, if you want an early hardmode gun then the Arms Dealer sells the shotgun. You can use that with crystal bullets to take out twins

It makes sense thematically, but I wouldn't use them. If I did use them I'd only use them as a last resort and restrict myself to not using anything NPCs aren't using yet, so no Frost Daggerfish until you find the Angler and no Clockwork Assault Rifle until after unlocking the Steampunker.
