Nunchucks are a melee weapon that serve as both a sword and a boomerang

Nunchucks can be used as a sword with left click, and a boomerang with Right click
nunchucks
damage: 32
Velocity: 12
Use time: 5 (insane)
Crit chance: 3%

nunchucks crafting: 2 enchanted boomerangs, 5 chain, 10 shadow scales or tissue sample.

they go the same distance as the enchanted boomerang When you press right click. when holding Left click they function as a shortsword, but really fast.

32 damage with that use time in pre-Hardmode? No way, man. For starters, the fastest Melee weapon in the game right now has a use time of 8, which is slower than yours by a significant amount. Second, the highest damage any pre-Hardmode Melee weapon has is the Sunfury at 64, which is balanced because it's a flail and therefore attacks slowly, and also requiring you to beat Skeletron before you can get it. This weapon would be way too overpowered, and you could get it as soon as you beat Eater of Worlds. Make it slower, and decrease the base damage. Try a use time of 8, and a damage of 18.
 
man, it should work like a mace (swinging around player in circles), not a sword.

and this one might sound farfetched, but maybe you could block (parry) with the nunchucks? kinda sucks that all parry abilities are locked to hardmode
