I tend not to bother with customizing individual houses for NPCs. Events and bosses tend to kill them and I then need to rearrange flags once they respawn.
I would love it if NPC flags were permanent, meaning they would reappear in the same house, if it still exists, when an NPC respawns. It would encourage me to spend much more time being creative with my houses.
