The game has a few placeable weapons: The Snowball Launcher, the Cannon, and the Bunny Cannon. While they're typically useful, they, as a game mechanic, are clearly underused. On top of this, only one is really practical, as one is a rare drop from a monster that can't spawn on the main building blocks of it's own biome, and the other has very tediously-obtained ammo.
This suggestion aims to improve their useability and, more importantly, add diversity to them.

Tweaks:
Placeable weapons are now called "Artillery" as a collective term, and can now be "Fixed" (Cannot be moved by the player once placed, similar to the Snowball Launcher), "Rotating" (It's angle can be adjusted similarly to Cannons), and "Manual" (Cannot be triggered by wire, and instead, they have to be controlled like manned turrets. They follow the mouse, but with limited angles).
The Snowball Launcher is no longer dropped by Snow Flinxes. Instead, it's crafted at an Anvil with the recipe:

Artillery pieces now can have a small inventory in which ammunition can be added, allowing them to deal damage if fired using wire. Inventory size varies between artillery pieces,with some even having a smaller stack size for their ammo than it would in the Player's inventory. Manual artillery doesn't typically have an inventory.
Cannons and Bunny Cannons are tweaked: They now have an use time of 40, but now have several different types of ammo, giving them more versatility. Explosive Bunnies can now also be placed directly and explode (without breaking blocks) on death, and the Bunny Cannon is now renamed to "Animal Cannon".

Organ Gun:
Sold by the Arms Dealer after defeating Skeletron for 25 gold. Uses bullets as ammo, and fires a 6-round burst, with a base damage of 50 and a 3-frame delay between each shot in the burst. Acts as a fixed gun, and has an use time of 60 between the start of each burst. Uses a bullet per shot.

Grenade Catapult:
Crafted at an Anvil with the recipe: 20x

Uses grenades for ammo, and is thrown further away than if thrown by hand. Acts as a manned gun.​
HM:
Machine Gun:
Sold by the Pirate if the Steampunker is present for 30 Gold. Uses bullets as ammo, and has a base damage of 60, and an use time of 8. Acts as a rotating gun. It's inventory can only contain up to 333 bullets.

Dual-Purpose Gun:
Sold by the Pirate after defeating Plantera for 2 Platinum. Uses Shells for ammo, and acts as a Manned gun. Has a damage of 1200, and an use time of 90.

MLRS:
Sold by the Pirate after defeating Plantera. Uses Rockets for ammo. Acts as a fixed gun that is always pointing at a 45-degree angle above the horizontal. Fires a salvo of 8 Rockets at once, with an use time of 120 and base damage of 150+Rocket damage. The missiles explode into several bomblets upon travelling a set amount of blocks that can be toggled in it's GUI.

Superposed Load Gun:
Crafted with 4 Organ guns, 15 Shroomite Bars, and 5 Cobalt/Palladium Bars at a Mythril/Orichalcum anvil. Fires a 120-round burst, with a spread 2 bullets being fired per frame. Each bullet deals 60 damage, and the gun acts as a fixed gun. To balance the long burst, it needs 4 seconds to fire again, counting after the last shot in a burst.
New Ammo types:
Cannonballs:
Grapeshot: Shoots a spread of 5 pellets, all of which deal half the normal Cannon damage. Sold by the Pirate for 18 Silver.
Molten Shot: Crafted with a cannonball near lava. Deals less damage, but spawns damaging lava droplets as it flies (Obviously, this doesn't resemble the real kind).
Shells:
Flak shell: Explodes in a circle of damaging shrapnel if close enough to a flying entity.
Armor-piercing shell: Ignores 250 defence, and pierces up to 3 enemies, but deals 20 less damage.​

Animals (I didn't have the Bunny Cannon renamed to Animal Cannon for nothing):
Bird Bomb: Crafted with 10 Birds and 10 Grenades. Fires a "spread" of 10 birds with grenades attached to them, which fly away on their own, but slowed down, exploding upon being killed by mobs. Each bird deals 80 damage.
Fuseduck: Crafted with 1 Duck and 1 Dinamite. Deals 350 damage. Has no arc, and starts seeking enemies after travelling 25 blocks. Has a Malleard Duck variant.
Blastguin: Crafted with a Penguin and 2 Dinamite. Deals doubled admage, but has a stronger arc. Upon hitting the ground, it gets up and behaves like a normal penguin, exploding on death.
Exploding Squirrel: Crafted with 1 Dinamite and 1 Squirrel. Seeks out enemies after hitting a block.
