Whenever I open the game on steam, it says, "Please launch the game from your Steam client."

I've noticed this a few times from tModLoader and sometimes Vanilla. I recommend closing Steam and relaunching Steam and then try Terraria again.

Okay, well, I hope it's sorted somehow so that she can play. It's really unfortunate to want to play with the last update and not be able to.
