Question [QUESTION] Can underworld mobs spawn on lava?

I'm building farms across my world at the moment, I've got a pretty good system, but it won't work if lava-proof mobs can spawn on lava.

Well most mobs won't spawn on lava but I have my doubt on bone serpent which tends to come straight out of lava pools.

As far as I know, worms do spawn like any other mob, just off screen and then dig their way into the ground and towards the player (only exception to this that I know of would be Wyverns). Chance is they spawn either into underground holes (if there's any in the underworld, which I'm not entirely sure) or in obsidian structures.
 
I looked up the sources, premise for who is not aware of how messed up the spawn codes are, imagine WWII. I don't seem to find any reference to lava when it comes to the underworld enemies. It seems the system in general is coded to avoid spawns from happening in lava.
