It's no longer possible to quickly replace walls, they have to be hammered down first. Can you look into it? The setting doesn't even seem to exist under game general settings nor in the json config game file, anymore.
 
It still works for me, are you replacing a naturally generating wall? If so, are you trying to replace one that is surrounded on all sides by other naturally generating walls?
 
Not able to reproduce this on my end, gawgitta's suggestion about natural walls sounds most likely to me.
