Weapons & Equip Rainbow Gun

Right now the rainbow gun is pretty much useless. Could the rainbow gun get a buff or maybe even do something similar to the piranha gun and make it short three rainbows instead of one. It's sad that something that's so hard to obtain isn't worth the effort. The other biome chests could use a bit of a boost except maybe the tiger or scourge but the rainbow gun feels the most useless.

this is sadly the same with all other biome chest weapons, most of them are just for the collection as they are not really good for actual use

The rainbows and unicorns achievement was one of the last achievements I got. I kind of agree it isn't as powerful as it should be for how hard it is to obtain. I would defiantly like it to have some sort of buff in 1.4.5

It being a slow firing weapon that shoots a persistent projectile, I think of it as a support weapon not meant to be used as your main weapon, same as the Nimbus Rod or Clinger Staff. So I'm not sure it needs a change.

I see what your saying, but the rainbow dissipates so quickly and dose so little damage that its usually not worth constantly swaping weapons when you could just be doing more continues damage with a more viable weapon.

The main use of the rainbow gun is as basically the same as a Nimbus rod, you set it up to do passive damage while you do something else. Rainbow gun is perhaps at its best against Golem, since it resides in a confined space where it can't get out of the way of the rainbow gun.

It's not a bad weapon, but rather an undertuned weapon. Having a longer lifespan and more damage would make it really good.

I see but I just don't think its on screen long enough for the amount of damage it deals. and plus do you really need help from the rainbow gun to beat golem (unless your playing in for the worthy or getfixedboi).

The rainbow projectile lasts for 40 seconds. I agree it could use it being longer, but it's still enough time to dish out damage with your main weapon and doing a little more when the boss passes through the rainbow. It also helps you do damage while you stop firing to recover mana, assuming you're a Mage.

Of course your main weapon will do more damage than this support weapon, it's designed that way. And it only takes about 2 seconds to switch to it, fire it once and switch back to your main weapon.

Also, the Rainbow Gun excels at invasion events, as it infinitely pierces and travels in a straight line.
I think it could use a longer projectile lifespan, but that's about it.

yeah, just increasing its life spawn to something closer to the nimbus rod would also work. Nobody in their right mind would use it as a primary but since it goes away so soon using it as a support weapon isn't really feasible.

I see where your coming from, and I defiantly agree with the last part.
I guess I'm just still salty that it tock me days of grinding to get the rainbows and unicorns achievement

Oh, no problem man. I totally understand and agree that waiting idle in front of the screen mindlessly killing enemies and not having a sliver of fun for hours, just for a drop, is dumb and should be looked into. rodofdiscord

I guess it is my fault for trying to grind every achievement.
But boy was it worth it in the end.
I agree with what @Throarbin said earlier, all I think it needs is just a slight timespan increases
