as most of the items related to solar pillar have the prefix "solar flare" (eg. solar flare pickaxe, solar flare wings. I cannot stop thinking why not let flare gun upgrade to "solar flare gun" or have "solar flare" (the flare ammo) as the ultimate illumination tool. not sure what sort of effect should it have yet, maybe the ability to go through blocks and leave a trace of floating light source behind?

The problem is that Solar Flare is the Melee endgame armor. Making a gun with it just isn’t right. Now maybe a kind of bullets could work if all the lunar fragments get to as well.

I think they are suggesting a new type of flare, not a whole new weapon.
no one seriously treat flare gun as a "weapon" anyway, it's more of a meme tool suggestion

A "Solar Flare Gun" that does the same thing as the Flare Gun but doesn't need ammo would actually probably be a useful tool. Free temporary torches to light up your building projects.
