Weapons & Equip Sunny Flashlight

Zlia

Terrarian
Held light source.
If the game's mechanics would allow it, is able to light things up at the direction the player is aiming at. If not, that's fine too.

Primary function is being able to turn Gnomes into Garden Gnomes without having to lure them out in the open during the day.
(Could maybe have some effect on other enemies? Like causing a debuff?)

Maybe obtainable as a rare drop from Golem?

A flashlight wouldn't be useful by the time you get it from Golem, it would be best if you can obtain it without defeating any bosses. Maybe adding it to the desert chest loot pile

What about a Sunflower? Drops from sunflowers rarely and automatically emits sparkles in front of you that have the max light level emitting and turns gnomes into statues. May also damage underground evil mobs.

A regular flashlight, sure. But the one which affects Gnomes should definitely be a late-game item to not make their mechanic irrelevant.
...That said, the Underground Desert *is* an unusually difficult pre-Hardmode area (with lame rewards). So maybe it is late enough?

In general I see this idea as more of a busy-work removal tool, than an actual light source. It kinda doesn't make sense for someone who's at Post-Golem to be messing around with Gnomes they can easily one-shot because they ran out of Garden Gnomes. ^_^'

Another way of handling this could be having a (regular) Flashlight item in the Underground Desert Chests loot pool which can be combined with a Sun Stone from Golem to upgrade it to the Garden Gnome/Debuff Causing Sunny Flashlight.

That sounds a bit too busted for something you can get immediately. ^_^'

I personally don't see the gnome removal aspect of it that useful, especially lategame. What would the "Sunny" debuff do?

When I say dropped rarely, I mean like RoD rare. Now, being able to rapidly plant and mine them would make it much wiser to farm than the RoD, but it would still take insanely long even if you purchased hundreds of sunflowers from the dryad and filled your entire skyway with them for the grind.

I dunno. I'm open for suggestions. ^_^'

Pretty much any kind of stat debuff would make sense thematically since "the Sun burns/blinds Evil" or something. The most straightforward thing would be a Defense and/or Damage debuff. How powerful that debuff is while keeping it balanced would be up to the devs.

If the only special function of it is that it turns Gnomes into Garden Gnomes without needing to lure them into the sunlight, I personally don't think that it needs to be a lategame item at all. You could get it in the middle of pre-Hardmode and it would still be fine. I might be off the mark, but the main difficulty of getting Garden Gnomes is finding the Gnomes, right? Luring them into the sunlight is just kind of annoying. If this was gotten in Ivy Chests that would honestly be acceptable to me. If it also inflicted a debuff onto enemies, then we could push it further into the game based on what the debuff is.
