Game Mechanics When there is a boss, all other spawn rates lower to 25% the usual

Isn't it annoying when you're fighting a boss, yet some annoying enemies come your way and bother you, probably causing your death?
Yeah
You fight a boss to fight the BOSS, you don't fight it to also fight other enemies.
When you summon a boss, you want to fight the boss.

What's the point of having extra enemies? (unless it's spawned BY the boss, a.e. The Hungry, Servant of Cthulhu)
It's stupid and kind of annoying to have that
and i'm not saying put NO mobs at all, but at least WAY less.
 
Calming Potion lowers spawn rate (how fast enemies can spawn) by 17% and decreases max spawns (how many enemies can spawn) by 20%.
Peace Candle lowers spawn rate by 20%.
Sunflowers lower spawn rate by 23%.

The max spawn count without a battle potion or water candle possible is 15, and bosses count as 5 toward that limit (worm bosses count a 5 per segment, so they go way over the limit). So given a normal boss fight and assuming maximum normal spawns, the spawn count besides the boss is essentially 10, and the calming potion brings it down to 8. Not only that, but the three buffs above can stack, reducing the spawn rate by about 51%. So, the few enemies that can spawn will spawn much slower. It's not quite the 25% spawn rate that you suggested, but it's nothing to sneeze at.
That being said, it would definitely be nice to have something that could singlehandedly do that.
