Mac will my world corrupt?

so im hype for the 1.3.1 update, but I'm wondering. will my character/world or both corrupt from the jump?
i've put a lot of time into my world and character and I'm hoping it will be ok. I'm on mac so i cant cloud save i don't think. steam, mac.

While it never hurts to make sure you have backups of your worlds and players, Terraria is good about being backward compatible with older worlds. When the game updates, it will still recognize your world and open it, and then it will be saved in the latest format when you exit.

Definitely make backups, there is never harm in doing so and it can prevent against unexpected corruptions.

But 1.3.1 should not be corrupting previous saves.
