I have read something about a map editor for pc. Is this something which will eventually be available on console versions?

simply put NO, sorry.
pretty sure map editors would break any one of the legal agreement for any platform.
ALSO pretty sure this discussion apply's to other ports of the game too, not just xbox

It would be cool to have a way to generate a world where you can pre determine the terrain but allows everything else to generate randomly.
