NPCs & Enemies Zodiac Bosses

MorningSTAR-αΩ

Official Terrarian
this be the 2nd of my TO suggestion crossposts. (Book sprites by it's a me!)

Okay so I will make two separate boss suggestion threads (due to having different themes) This one is based on the constellations of the elliptic (Yes including Ophiuchus as well).

General info:
  • These bosses can be fought independently of as part of a new event that I will detail later
  • The monsters' summoning items require fallen stars, and shroomite bars to craft. with the sign of the respective constellation
  • There are 13 bosses total (one of them has 2 mobs)
  • Like the early bosses these guys have a chance of spawning once certain conditions are met and they will drop some items, among them being in hardmode.
  • Most of the bosses can pass trough walls as part of their AI. the exceptions are the Golden Ram in it's berserk state, Castor and the Lost Girl.
  • All of them have a 50% chance of dropping a magic tome with the sign of the respective constellation. They will either have projectile attacks or buffs. the images are,

    • Rainbowbeam staff: Similar to the shadow beam staff and rainbow rod. You use the cursor to target and enemy with a small rainbow light then after the initial attack it acts like the shadowbeam's attack starting at the target rather than the caster with the angle dictated by the caster and cursor's relative position) (80 magic damage) (33.33%)
    • Ranger Hat: 18 defense, +11 ranged damage, (33.33%)
    • Ranger Shirt: 20 defense, +12 ranged damage (33.33%)
    • Ranger Pants: 15 defense +12 ranged damage. Set bonus allows a 50% rate (that stacks with other weapons) to not consume ammo and all attacks piercing enemies and ricocheting off blocks)
    • Spectre Cloak: allows an extra minion and the same bonus as the Spectre+Hood armor (20%)

The item is crafted with 100 falling stars, 20 Shroomite bars and a star veil. The event can be triggered at any time and last an entire ingame day so what do you think (and please let me know if the thread belongs somewhere else like the portfolios forum)

Sidenote. Any sprites for the bosses/NPCs/items would be greatly appreciated

BTW, who is Orphiucius.
And Orphiucius does not exist among the zodiac.

Ophiuchus (not Orphiucius), pronounced more or less like "ah-fee-YOU-kus," is a constellation representing the Serpent Bearer or Serpent Handler (no fourth-grade level jokes, please) because he is "holding" Serpens, the Snake. It's sometimes called the Physician, after the Roman practice identifying the constellation with Asclepius — the first (as Romans thought) medical doctor. Jupiter slew Asclepius for presuming to learn the secret of death, so he would not make humans immortal. Having done that, Jupiter placed him among the stars to honor the good he had done.

Claudius Ptolemaius included Ophiuchus in his list of forty-eight constellations, and it and Serpens are still in the official modern constellation list. (Because modern constellations cannot overlap or be composed of discontinuous areas, nowadays Serpens has been divided into two constellations, one on either side of Ophiuchus: Serpens Cauda, the head end, and Serpens Caput, the tail end.)

Ophiuchus is not one of the zodiacal signs in the pseudo-science of astrology, but the Ecliptic (the sun's apparent path across the sky, as seen from Earth) does pass through it, so it's sometimes considered a zodiacal constellation in the genuine science of astronomy. However, in astronomy there is no significance to constellations; they're just convenient, formally defined, historically based areas. Likewise, the zodiac has no significance at all in astronomy. It's simply a band of the sky that the sun appears to travel across throughout the year.

Trivium: During most of the time when astrologers consider the sun to be in the sign of Sagittarius, the Centaur Archer, it is within the astronomical boundaries of the constellation Ophiuchus. Not that astrologers pay any attention to science, but there it is.

Ohhhhkay, I tried to correct an omission above but the board software thinks it's "spammy or contains inappropriate content" and refuses to allow me to edit it. (Really? Methinks the spam filter is badly out of whack. The history of astronomy is about as far from obscene or spam-like as you can get.) So I'll make the correction here.

The first sentence should read as follows, with the addition highlighted in green: "[…] a constellation representing the Serpent Bearer or Serpent Handler (no fourth-grade level jokes, please), so called because he is "holding" Serpens, the Snake."

I know this is a bit old, but I think this idea is really cool! I've always liked astronomy, so this was fun to read through.

I like how you included Ophiuchus -- it doesn't get enough love and it's often forgotten.

I really like how you incorporated each constellation's brightest/main star in each of the drops -- But seriously, I'm not going to be able to (nor want to) say Zubeneschamali.

It's cool how each boss is sort of like a mini-boss and makes you have to travel all around to the different biomes to fight them all.

I think they should be rare when spawning naturally, since you don't want some boss randomly popping up every week. Maybe make the spawn chance very rare and have the summoning item not too difficult to craft? Or have them only spawn once naturally? Also, it'd be cool for each summoning item to involve a different dye or something.
Maybe each miniboss could only naturally spawn at a certain time of "year"? (Not an IRL one, but maybe a shortened one in game.)

Great work!
