[1.4.4.9] TerrariaPatcher (plugins and more!)

Ok didn't want to bother you because I couldn't use it right after it got patched. I just didn't see the patch.

v1.2.0.9: Fixed Newtonsoft.Json.dll extraction issue with Terraria 1.3.0.7.

Also I will be adding flashlight & debuff removal plugins soon.

I'm getting an error whenever I try to use only the plugins option. This error comes up even after I've restarted my computer. Any suggestions?

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

  • When patching you should always hit yes to this:
BHGYUe1.png

This will copy Terraria.exe to Terraria.exe.bak.

  • Later on when you want to patch your exe differently (maybe turning on some features) you don't have to do any file system management (no messing with backup files). You simple patch again and if it sees a Terraria.exe.bak it will ask you:
pE1vD7D.png
<-- Click yes here.
This will overwrite your Terraria.exe (patched) with the Terraria.exe.bak (original) before attempting any patching.

  • Terraria updates to new version via Steam. Oh no! All your mods are gone, what will you do?!
    • Launch TerrariaPatcher.
    • Patch the new Terraria.exe and hit NO to the message asking if you want to restore the old backup. YOUR OLD BACKUP IS AN OLD TERRARIA, WHY WOULD YOU RESTORE IT?!
kgSzsm2.png
<--- Click no here.

EDIT: Possibly, the reason why yours may not be working anymore is that you have already gone back to a previous version of Terraria.

Don't patch Terraria while you have Terraria running. You must patch when Terraria is closed.
The problem still occurs even if Terraria is not running. Oddly enough, when I leave the Plugins box blank and patch, the Plugin selection window appears, but trying to advance leads to this error.
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Hey, now that we have Mac/Linux support rolling out, any chance you could take a peek and see if it is workable for us and how to get it working? Imagine I could just try firing up mono/wine and seeing if it works but not sure, since it uses its own mono libs and tbh I dunno how its actually working (does it run Terraria.bin.x86_64 or do something with Terraria.exe first then create the bin? The bin is tiny but that might also be due to windows, or perhaps having lots of libs statically linked into the exe?)

  • Don't run the patcher inside your Terraria folder. Run it inside your Downloads folder or something.
  • Make sure Terraria is closed when you are patching.
  • Run Steam with administrator privileges then run Terraria via that elevated Steam instance.
  • Check your anti-virus.

I'm really not sure man. I don't have a Mac to test on.

v1.2.0.10: Added BuffImmunity plugin.
Added Flashlight plugin.
Added PortableCraftingGuide plugin.
Added Electrosphere Launcher to HomingBullets plugin exclusions.
Updated DropRates plugin with Rare-only drop rate toggle.
Added plugin support for IPluginPlaySound.

But you have a computer right? Linux is free, and if you can program it'd probably be easy as pie. Recommend linux Mint myself. If you're up to it that is. If I knew if they were calling the EXE directly.. I could probably just use WINE to patch the EXE then copy it over to the actual steam install folder. But I'm not sure what else could break with that.

Really though since it's just beta atm anyhow, probably wouldn't be safe to mess with the executable or worthwhile, since it's going to be changing around quite a bit until things stabilize
