Sorry to necro an old thread, but does the spike damage thing still work in 1.3?

Not in 1.3, but there's a simple fix: the spike can be replaced with a box with a slime statue inside and the cannon positioned so that its within reach. Like this:

A slime banner is necessary in expert mode to reduce the damage to 1 per hit (assuming a reasonable amount of defense).

It's an old thread but still relevant. I tried to do the slime statue thing but died PDQ by taking damage from the mourning woods attacks. Does this setup still work?
