Mobile Character resetting on mobile

Terrarian
I just started playing Terraria with my son on iOS. We play using iPhones and connect to each other with Zero Tier One hosting the server.

This week his character stopped updating with the server and keeps getting reset to an earlier version of itself every time he logs back in.

I’ll admit we’ve used this glitch to duplicate the 3 crimtane ore and 4 gold ore he keeps getting reset to having in his inventory again.

But because of this glitch he can’t log out with any newly acquired items or they will be lost forever.

Is there any solution to the reverting?

Hi there @xkimo19 welcome to the forums.

Is this happening when you play multiplayer just using the two phones (and not using the zero tier one app)? If you are both on the same network and using the same Terraria version as each other, you can play together without using the zero tier one app.

If it’s still happening using just the two phones (and no outside apps) it’s something that can be troubleshot, although I haven’t seen anyone else have this problem.

If it’s only happening when you use zero tier one app, it is something you’ll probably have to ask them about, as it’s possible that it’s something in their system (or interaction with your devices) that is causing the issue.

We do sometimes play on a local network together, but it isn’t always an option.
Will come back with an update when I can.
Thank you!

So after playing on LAN, we determined that it was the VPN causing the issue.

I could reach out to the VPN. But I’m wondering if there’s an easier way to play online on mobile.

Even though this was written when 1.3 came out, most (if not all the info) still is relevant to the current version, and it includes detailed info about playing multiplayer on mobile.
