I tried to use clentaminator to purify the corruption biome and somehow destroyed several demon altars with it.

only some of the altars got destroyed during the process, but I didn't see any difference between the destroyed altars and the remainings.

This happened in two of my playthroughs, and I did not have any hammer in my inventory when this happened, i cannot even intentionally break any altar with shift+click, thus I believe it is not caused by some misclick but caused by some bug/new mechanism

This was quite annoying since I don't want to be bothered by the random corruption spreading when destroying an altar.

I gave this a quick test, but was not able to reproduce it. Could you please provide some additional info that might help track down the cause? Thanks!
- Did the game show the message "Your world has been blessed..."?
- Game mode? (E.g. Journey or Expert)
- If Journey, any specific settings? (Time frozen, enemy spawn, etc.)
- Solution you were using? (I assume green as you mentioned purify, but checking to be sure)
- Normal or hard mode?
- Anything else you think might be relevant

I created several new worlds but failed to reproduce it myself as well

I was in journey mod, at master difficulty and without any special ability turned on, using the green solution to purify a natural corruption biome in hardmode.

the message of hardmode ore does show up. in fact i wasn't paying attention to the screen while using clentaminator, i assume a altar being destroyed only because i see the message

my first playthrough was in a corruption world and only a single altar got destroyed during the process
my second playthrough was in a drunkworld map, i cannot remember the exact number but 2~4 altars in corruption got broken, while all crimson altars were fine

I just encountered the exact same phenomena. I was cleansing one of the starting corruption biomes with the green solution. I was below all the altars in the main bottom layer of the corruption tunnel when I received two messages in a row, both of which were "your world has been blessed with...!" I had not smashed any altars prior and had gotten all of my gear from crate farming. I am playing a Normal character on an Expert Mode medium world. It was midday and raining, though I don't think that is relevant. However, this world was made prior to the Journey's End update, but I have not had any problems with it before this. I had just purchased the clentaminator from the steampunker not five minutes prior. I had quit without saving (I think) as I would rather not have dealt with the 66% chance of an unaccountable biome block spawning. All in all, I can verify what ZeroRin has claimed.

I have had the same problem on my hardmode master mode world. It seems like it only happen to altars that were generated into each other due to a glitch. The glitched altars do break when the tiles that touch it are getting updated. This can be done by destroying the tiles or changing it to another block with the Clentaminator.

@flightlessnova and @herrsteve, can you please copy your world seeds so I can check them? If you could also provide the approximate coordinates of the altars with problems, that would be appreciated.
There are some known issues with altars generating inappropriately, but it would be good to check if there are other unreported cases.

@Sigma90 the seed is 3.3.1.1779650815
Master Mode, Corruption, Large. Coordinates are 3927´ West and 48´ Underground.
Edit: (It did not work as I tried to recreate my world because there was a snow biome instead of corruption. Perhaps because of the version? I created my world in version 1.4.0.4 and now I'm using 1.4.0.5)

Thanks for providing the seed. I gave it a try as well, but same as you, no luck with stacked altars. There were some bugs in early 1.4.x versions regarding placement of altars and it's possible this particular bug has been fixed. Similarly, the version change might have caused the seed to generate a new world. If you see it again in another world, please do provide the seed.
