Game Mechanics Cosmic decoy flares for the UFO mount

Cosmic Decoy Flares - This is a passive ability of the UFO mount that allows it to release a group of flares when the player is fired at. Once fired, the flares will hover midair and intercept a certain number of incoming projectiles. They will also draw the attention of homing projectiles. Ideally there would be at least a short cooldown on this ability for balance. In terms of movement, the flares will behave similar to the Nightglow's projectiles without the darting off. As for appearance, the flares will look like stylized stardust fragments.

I thought of this because I think every mount should have something about it that is unique enough to be desired. As it stands, we have the Witch's Broom which is objectively better than the UFO mount, leaving the UFO mount with little reason to be used over the Witch Broom or any other late game mount.
 
Whenever I see the UFO vs Broom argument I always remember that Broom is Expert exclusive. But to the flares, a purely defensive projectile would be unique to the UFO mount given that the few other damaging mounts at the ground ones that ram, gel ones that squish, and Santa that shoots. A defensive one would be cool.
 
I really don't think the UFO needs to be buffed. It's worse than the Witch's Broom, but it's also not exclusive to Expert mode. This buff idea isn't bad, to be clear, but I don't think it's really warranted.

Like many other things, it doesn't need to be buffed but it would make the UFO mount more attractive in certain scenarios and give the player more combat options. The more unique options you can experiment with, the more overall fun you can have (I think).
