What about adding a forcefield block which could be crossed by players but not by monsters and/or items and/or liquids and falling tiles. With all these scifi items like the laser ruler, laser machinegun, the lunar monsters and so on should be easy to make a recipe. It can also add some features like projectiles bouncing on them (all projectiles or only laser ones), if it's too much information for a single block this could only be a particle effect absorbing the impact, knocking back who tries to enter, and a coloured recipe for every tipe of team, so only players on that team can pass through.

Not a terrible theory (though I believe a force-field/related has been suggested at least once before) though it's going to require more detail, and probably some balancing.

After reading it, yes it's simmilar, but your idea is a self buff and mine is a block, wich affects not only entities , but block mecanics.
