Help making a Server for Terraria.

Hey Yall. I was wondering if I could have some help creating a Terraria server, because even though I know ALL the steps and I understand how all of it works, I wa sitrested in some advice from the professionals before doing anything.

Port Forwarding...

I don't really understand the point in Port Forwarding when It comes to making a Terraria Server, and if it is necessarily safe. What is Port Forwarding? Is it safe? Please help me out with this step, as I understand that it is important and I don't understand what it is.

Anything else...

Anything else I am missing, feel free to point that out in a comment. I have the executable, and I have run it and made a server, but haven't port forwarded or any crap like that. Thanks for helping!

Have you checked out the Mobile - Terraria Mobile 1.3 Multiplayer Setup Guide - it includes instruction as well as tips and resources for port forwarding.
