Is This a Good Guide?

I made a multiplayer guide for my friends and I to use when we start our new playthrough, but I only have ~275hrs instead of the thousands people have here. I just want to make sure the guide doesn't suck, because one of my friends hasn't played before, and the other has beaten the game only once.

This guide seems very monoclass focused. Are you doing a pure-class challenge run together? I ask this so I can know what kind of advice I should give.

Add "Evil" to the armors for melee.

Add "Wood/Ore" as the first armor for every class.

Waterbolt, Aqua Scepter, and Razorblade Typhoon are absent in Magic weapons.

Chaingun and Megashark are absent from Ranged (Guns) weapons.

Deadly Sphere Staff and Stardust Dragon Staff are absent from Summoner weapons.

I'm pretty sure you meant to say Star Wrath in melee's weapons, not Star Fury right before Zenith.

I would not recommend Uzi, as it is extremely rare and difficult to grind for early on.

Jungle armor isn't mentioned in Magic's armors, despite being superior when using a non space gun build.

Celestial Cuffs aren't listed under Magic accessories.

Mana Cloak and Arcane Flower should be in the same spot with a slash between then (Mana Cloak/Arcane Flower)

Whips aren't mentioned.

Mounts aren't mentioned.

Hooks aren't mentioned.

NPCs aren't mentioned.

Buffs aren't mentioned.

There should also be a general category for accessories, where you can put Star Veil, Master Ninja Gear, Ankh Shield, and Charm of Myths.

If this is supposed to be tailored for beginners, you should always suggest Warding, no matter what. Warding's effects are much more noticable than Menacing's, and survivability is key to new players regardless of which direction they're going.

Jungle armor isn't mentioned in Magic's armors, despite being superior when using a non space gun build.
This is a myth. 27% Damage is better than 12% crit chance and 6% damage. Mana economy simply isn't impactful enough to pull jungle armor ahead of Meteor. Check Qwerty's Mana Guide for more information on this.
if you don't want to read it, then here's the main point I'd like you to look at:
  • If a theoretical item gives Infinite max mana, then it would be a 10% dps increase for most magic weapons.
  • Therefore, Mana increases are always less impactful than 10% increased dps on most magic weapons.
I'd also argue that Space Gun is actually a noob trap. It doesn't do as much damage as other magic weapons, which relegates it to being a sidearm while your mana recovers. Unfortunately, even that niche isn't particularly good as ranged/melee weapons often outdo it as sidearms even on magic builds. There simply aren't enough relevant magic-specific bonuses in prehardmode to keep it competitive.

We each pick a different class.

We each pick a different class.
Ok, so yes. You are doing a pure class challenge run.
I'm actually not very practiced at pure class challenge runs so my knowledge is unfortunately going to be very limited on this. My main suggestion for you is to recommend potion buffs, mounts, and the like as part of the guide in addition to what you already have. If you like I could point out some recommendations you put here which are generally non-viable in standard multiclass runs but you should probably take it with a grain of salt.

1) Fair

2) Thought that was self explanatory

3) The magic section felt bloated, so I omitted a few.

4) Never played Ranger, will add

5) Stardust Dragon doesn’t give local immunity frames, so it will screw everyone else up; Deadly Sphere will add.

6) Yep

7) Again, never played Ranger. The wiki said it was good, so I put it on there.

8) See Dapling’s post

9) Someone I know who has beaten Expert mode told me “just don’t get hit.” Will add anyway.

10) Will add

11-16) Forgot

17) I exclusively run Warding, so I often overestimate the other reforges

Thank you for your help!

This hasn't been the case for a long time. There isn't a single summon weapon in the game that inflicts global i-frames any more (and global i-frames also don't apply to other people iirc)

Even if it did have global iframes, it wouldn't matter because global iframes aren't shared between players. (static iframes are, but those are weapon specific which means you don't need to worry about that if everyone's picking a different class)

Hmm… must’ve been something else. Maybe Fandom, maybe I misremembered it, who knows. I’ll add it.

You can try this guide by Jasonthe4th, either as is or as a template. It's got good info, explanations and nice visual flair which your friends should find helpful.

Global iframes aren't shared between players, but static iframes  are, and many, many minions use those: Flinx, Slimes, Vampire Frogs, Imps, Spiders, Spazminis, Sharknado contact damage, and Frost Hydras all share iframes with each other no matter who it belongs to, which means a summoner using these minions may have their dps reduced if another player uses the same minions, as said other player's minions will deal less damage and block the higher-damage minions.

Surprisingly, despite being multiple different projectiles, Stardust Dragon actually uses local iframes, meaning Stardust Dragons belonging to different players will not interfere with each other.

I would argue that this probably should have been in the guide, but information about the different types of iframes and what which one each projectile uses is woefully underdocumented, especially on the wiki (the wiki actually seems determined NOT to tell you which iframe type a projectile uses), so I lay no blame for not including this.

Really, this is more of a To-Do list than a guide. I don’t want to officially post a guide until I’ve played the game much more.

Flinx Staff inflicts static iframes. Flinxes in this segment of the video are hitting way, way more than 6 times per second. Do you have some proof that static iframes are shared between players to contradict this?

Deerclops should be between evil bosses and Skeletron, like Queen Bee is; if you aren't fighting her then or earlier, there's no reason to ever fight her. I'd also recommend Fishron and Empress before Lunatic Cultist, because that's when their weapons are balanced for, though in general I would not advise daytime Empress in multiplayer ever. Daytime Empress is not at all a fun fight for anyone who's not an aggro tank, because her attacks are only intuitive for her main target.

I don't like the gear recommendations in general, especially weapons since they both feel too limiting and give some very silly recommendations like using the hardmode ore swords for the Twins. Personally, I don't think a guide would really matter for starting a multiplayer playthrough, especially since one of the players hasn't even played the game before. Especially not with prescribing a dichotomy between different "classes", when as a new player they're way more likely to just... use weapons. This is especially notable with how the guide breaks weapon recs apart into things like "ranger (bows)" or "ranger (guns)", which are even more specific theme runs that don't really matter, and are silly challenges to present to new players especially when it means ignoring things like grenades or launchers or Star Cannon or whatever else you get.

Only class thing I would bother with would be to designate one player as a "tank" that holds aggro and gets control over how the boss moves, built with as much defense as possible. Beyond that, I would use classes as a heuristic. You want a weapon for this boss? Hm, well, what kind of weapon do you want? What class? And then narrow down what weapon to recommend that way, and advise some gear based on that. Prescribing a class a priori is just a run where you categorically reject 75% of all weapons you get.

2) Okay

3) This is the main reason I’m here.

4) I have an obsession with making lists, okay?

The ranger subclasses came from me listing bows while my friends wanted to exclusively use guns. I thought splitting would be smart, but I think you’re right.

I did some tests, and... well, you are correct. Static iframes do not appear to be shared between players. I opened 5 separate clients on my PC and had them all join the same locally-hosted server. I set up a machine that would teleport all the players to the same location and into a position where their Vampire Frog would passively sit on a Target Dummy. This is what happened:

I humbly stand corrected.

EDIT: The reason I always thought this was because the Static iframe handler does not care who owns the projectile. However, your client essentially doesn't even see other players' attacks as projectiles. It doesn't care about their iframes or their damage, instead relying on the other player's clients to report when the enemy gets hit and for how much. If the code handling iframes was sent between clients, it would block the hits, but that information never gets sent, and thus the other players do not care about the static iframes from your projectiles.
