Game Mechanics Mediumcore death should drop a treasure bag containing your items to reduce drop spam especially in multiplayer.

Dying in mediumcore should drop your inventory as a kind of treasure bag with a rarity of 0 that if collected and rightclicked contains your items. This is also to prevent abuse by item spam in multiplayer and creating lag by dropping too many items. At least implement it in multiplayer due to item spam as I said before. Why rarity of 0? Because if it happens to fall in lava, everything is lost in mediumcore 😈

May be linked to Game Mechanics - Medium-core Players should have their items stored rather than dropped

Yes, should be implemented for every Mediumcore character I think. However, I must disagree with "higher than 0 rarity", as I have explained in detail in my controversial lava post.

Good point about reducing lag and preventing abuse in multiplayer as well. This further emphasizes the need for this to be fixed, in my opinion.

agreed!
don't forget to make the item placements absolutely random so it'd be even more annoying! i guess it'd be just as annoying lol
might make me start a medium core run :guideeek:

Yeah, but I think it would be better if it is a block, items (treasure bags too) can despawn.
There's a post on this topic too, that is *cough* *cough* made by me. I think it's better for a gravestone to store that, but there are issues like it not landing too, so this can work better.
we could have it stick onto walls if it can't find a place to land
if it touches flat surface but can't land it just sticks on a wall, mostly for memes

Agreed, it would have to be something that doesn't despawn when rejoining. The only issue with gravestones I think is that what happens when the gravestone falls into lava?

That would be funny

Probably make it glow and fairies can show the way. White rarity items will still burn, but you can open and mine it.

What if it falls onto a place full of furniture where it cannot be there as a tile?
As I said in the post, items can drop normally if it cannot land, or if there isn't really a better solution furniture can break. You can also just make it interactible as a projectile though.

Risk is fun sometimes but in a game with items that take hours upon hours of grinding the possibility of them just getting deleted sounds so miserable
You can lose almost any item in Stardew valley (even the ultimate sword, although you can buy it again). Surprisingly i saw only a few people which complain about it.
The amount of items lost could depend on the distance from the spawnpoint.

1. This isnt stardew valley
2. In stardew you can buy it back

Stardew valley isnt a game completely made around fighting, its just one part, and you do not lose your stuff permanently so whats your point

For the Truth's sake:
Stardew valley isnt a game completely made around fighting
Fighting is mandatory for true ending in SV.
Monster Eradication goal, lol
Fighting is a soft (yet barely avoidable) requirement for casual ending in SV.
One can't raise Combat skills without doing combat. So -2 Evaluation points from Grandpa (because skills are not maxed).
Some other requirements, like getting Skull key, is soft-gated behind fighting. Played too much time ago, can't recall it on the go.
Of course you can go Joja route to try to avoid most of this. It will be tedious and exceptionally resource-consuming. Hundreds over hundreds of Stone, for starts...

As far as I know, some lost items can't be recovered in SV at all. Notably, all quest items except XLR sized shorts.
Almost everything in Terraria can be re-obtained eventually without invading another game world.

It was just an example. There is currently no penalty for dying in mediumcore, if you die you can just go back for items.
If in the first mode you lose nothing and in the third you lose everything, then the second mode should be in between.
