PC Nurse attacking town slimes sometimes

Nurse has a weird tendency to aggro on one of my town slimes and keep throwing syringes at it. This doesn't seem to hurt the town slime, so it's just endless thump-thump-thump of syringes until I quit the world. Kind of annoying. This seems to especially start happening at the end of boss fights or events like the solar eclipse.

Is the town slime hurt? It's possible that she tries to heal them, but throws them over it and actually misses.
And since it's nighttime, all NPC's stick to the same spot, so she doesn't get the space variation to work with either

That was my first impression, too. She throws syringes in order to heal other NPCs, and I've seen her get stuck repeatedly throwing at an NPC but hitting a block or something. Aside from the slime itself, could there be a hurt NPC behind or below the slime or something like that?
