tModLoader Pets Overhaul Mod

Also increased amounts of Mastery Shards per world to 5, now also dropping from Skeletron and Moon Lord. Bug fixes.

Patch 2.3.0.1 - November 20, 2023

Fixes & Changes

  • Fixed Baby Face Monster being able to get to stage 1 regen by simply attacking an enemy.
  • Fixed when Baby Face Monster is at stage 2 regen, you would have benefits of stage 1 regen aswell, resulting in more health regen than intended
  • Fixed Baby Face Monster's stage 2's out of combat shield applying permanently
  • Fixed Pig Man's timer value not being registered at all times.
  • Fixed Pig Man sometimes not applying Shields upon eating food.
  • Fixed all Shields being able to block up to 2x more their amount if the damage being blocked is lower than 2x their amount. (eg. a 10 shield can fully block a 15 or 20 damage (u get another shield pop-up text with -5 and -10 respectively) but not 21 damage, only reducing that by intended 10 damage.)
    • This was happening because the non-fully block code would work but does not decrement the shield before fully blocking it, now checks if shield is to be reduced before checking to fully block the damage or not, so in cases where a regular damage reduction with your shield will just do its thing without initializing the fully block aswell alongside it.
  • Fixed while a Dual Slime Pets are active, Sparkle Slimy Balloon's debuff not applying any slow whatsoever.
  • Slows will now not be added to an enemy whatsoever if they are friendly or a boss, rather than checking if they are or not while applying.
  • Simplified and made Baby Snowman's code more efficient/shorter.

  • Fixed all slows being able to be applied to Bosses

    • They allow you to be able to craft the Toy Golem, Fairy Princess and Jack O' Lantern Light Pets respectively while they are in your inventory or in your void bag. (More info below)
    • This now should make Mastery Shards on Master mode worlds less 'useless'.
  • Increased Mastery Shards per world to 5. Now Skeletron and Moon Lord also drops one.

The mod is called Vacuum ore bag (by Andro951)
Thanks to help of Andro, this is now implemented as of latest patch. You can use both (And I'd recommend, it goes well with Gathering type of Pets!) Mods together with no issues!
How do I maximize all of my light pet's statistics?
"Suspicious Looking Tentacle"
Its all reliant on your luck! If the rolls you got doesn't seem to be great, you can try getting another one.

PreOnPickup hook addition (Credit: Andro951), now Pets Overhaul Pets works before any other Mod and is working before the normal Methods. Heavily improving cross-mod quality.

OMG, thank you very much !

You're welcome, enjoy!

I am glad you are! I'd like to hear your thoughts and feedback of the Mod!
Well, I'm currently at the lunar events and I've not really changed my pet since getting the brain in a jar. Towards the end I switched to using the ice queen pet and if that's on cooldown the brain in a jar. Overall I like the mod and I might keep it enabled in my next run (I'll try to disable as much mods as I can that make you stronger). A con is that you ´can´ only use the strong pets and not the ones you actually like the most visually. This might be stupid but what about a vanity slot for the pets? You could use the pets that are strong and see the pets you like the most visually. The mod makes pets not really be pets anymore but turns them into fighting companions wich is also cool but the pet part goes missing a little. I hope you can get something useful out of this feedback 👍

Thank you for the feedback and is always very useful to recieve feedback from players that uses my mod.

2 things you said that actually you can do: There is a config option Pets Overhaul has to make you receive more and deal less damage because Pets Overhaul blatantly adds Powercreep. If you'd like to use Pets Overhaul without making game too easy, u can adjust that!

Other is you can have Vanity pets! All you need to do is disable your 'current pet's visual (which is whats equipped in your Pet slot) and then activate another Pet from using its item from your inventory. The idea of making a Vanity Pet slot is a good one, It may happen one day but no promises.

I also would like to hear your feedback on Light Pets, how do they feel for you?

I probably should note that the playthrough is still in 1.4.3. I don't think the version of the mod for 1.4.3 overhauls light pets (or I might've just forgotten). I'll give you feedback on the light pets as soon as I start my 1.4.4 modded playthrough (it's gonna be my first calamity playthrough:happy:)

Ooooh. The 1.4.3 version of Pets overhaul is extremely outdated, I'd highly recommend you going 1.4.4. It is far greater, no bugs (as of now that I am aware of), way more interesting effects and all. Do let me know what do you think when you play on 1.4.4 Terraria about Pets Overhaul!

Edit: 1.4.3 version of Pets Overhaul is also a bit unbalanced, in fact its so outdated that there has been 79 patches, if im not wrong, since Pets Overhaul has ported to 1.4.4!

Fortune & Junimo Levels Balance Update, Patch 2.3.7, December 29, 2023

Systemical Changes & Fixes

  • Changed the way Fortune Stats work. They now affect non-Pet sourced items aswell.
    • All gathering Fortune stats (mining, harvesting and fishing) works with half effectiveness on their corresponding stats. Eg. 10 Mining Fortune will give you 5% more 'mining' items, which are items that Mining Pets benefits from.
    • They still work with 100% effectiveness with items dropped by Pets just as before. Eg. a bonus seed obtained by a Blue Chicken will be 10% more if you have 10 Harvesting fortune.
    • Global Fortune now simply has half effectiveness for all Harvesting, Mining and Fishing items. Only is 100% effective for Pet items that are not classified as any of the 3 gathering classes.
  • Item OnSpawn code now won't run if the world generation is currently ongoing. (Possible fix for WorldGen issues)
  • Fixed Bonus Angler Quest Rewards being affected by current fishing level 10 times lower than intended.
  • Fixed Junimo checking the in-use state wrong while giving Player the Harvesting perk, bonus maximum health, resulting in giving less & more health than intended in certain scenarios.
  • Fixed Junimo's tooltip display's stats being inconsistent with Pet Swap Cooldown.
  • Changed the way of 'upon death' stuff works to now constantly update certain cooldowns while Player is dead, rather than initiating only once when they die.

Balance Changes

  • Junimo
    • Adjusted all level requirements by an algorithm. Now required exp for next level starts increasing 20% from the one before, but reducing 0.4% everytime the level goes up, resulting in higher levels not having biggest exp gaps in the entire world just to get +1 level. This makes early levels slightly harder (not something you will breeze through instantly) and late levels easier to obtain. Also a level always requires more than prior level to go up.
    • Old Harvesting Level 2 Requirement: 20, Max level requirement: 400000, New Harvesting Level 2 Requirement: 125, Max level exp requirement: 135165
    • Old Mining Level 2 Requirement: 15, Max level requirement: 500000, New Mining Level 2 Requirement: 115, Max level exp requirement: 123765
    • Old Fishing Level 2 Requirement: 5, Max level requirement: 80000, New Fishing Level 2 Requirement: 10, Max level exp requirement: 8430
    • Removed all double benefits while Junimo Pet is in use, except for Combat stats. Only the Health, Damage Resist and Damage Increase bonuses are doubled while Junimo is in use.
    • Increased Mining Perk of increasing gathered ores to 1.2% per level from 0.9%.
    • Increased Harvesting Perk of exp to coin multiplier to 0.6x from 0.45x.
    • Increased Fishing Perk of fishing power multiplicative increase to 0.5% from 0.4%
    • New: Grants 33% increase to all 3 Mining, Harvesting and Fishing EXP stats while Junimo is in use. (Is not multiplicative like before, additive alongside other EXP boost sources)
    • Increased Jungle Spores Harvesting exp yield to 5 from 4
  • Town Pets
    • Effective range of all Town Pet auras are doubled.
    • All of their Fortune & Exp buffs are doubled.
  • Baby Face Monster
    • Reduced time required to reach stage 2 life regen to 12 seconds from 20
    • Reduced stage 2 life regen amount to 9 from 15
  • Spiffo
    • Increased ammo reservation chance to 20% from 10%.
    • Increased armor pen vs. Zombies to 6 from 4.
  • Parrot
    • Increased spread slightly to be between 0.8 and 1.2 (1 being same as initial projectile) from 0.9 and 1.1.
    • New QoL: Projectiles that acts as a Melee sword (Eg. Excalibur etc.) will now use the regular multiple strike mechanic rather than trying to create a new Projectile with them. Prior to this, Parrot was sort of useless with them.

Patch 2.3.7.1, December 29, 2023

Fixes

  • Fixed Fishing Fortune bonus with non-pet Fishing loot trying to use Mining Fortune stat rather than intended, Fishing Fortune.
  • NPC's that are immune to Confused debuff now won't get slowed by Pets. (Since Pet's Slow does mess with NPC's AI, the NPC's that mostly has a custom AI that shouldn't be tampered with are immune to vanilla Confused debuff. Due to this, Pets Overhaul's slow will follow a similar logic)

Balance Changes

  • Sapling
    • Reduced regular Lifesteal to 0.8% from 0.9%
  • Shark Pup
    • Increased Damage resistance vs Fished Up enemies to 15% from 10%.
    • Increased Shield gain upon catching anything to 10 from 5
  • Spider
    • Increased Damage multiplier on poisoned targets to 1.08 from 1.05.
    • Increased Damage multiplier on targets inflicted with venom to 1.16 from 1.15.
  • Chester
    • Increased defense bonus while a Container is open to 10 from 8.
    • Increased bonus grab range to 5 blocks from 4 blocks.
  • Baby Grinch
    • Increased Frost Moon Weapon bonus damage to 15% from 10%.
    • Increased slow range to 30 blocks from 25 blocks.

Pets overhaul is currently mostly inactive for new updates.
