(i’m getting these stats from the terraria wiki.gg)
in 1.4.1 the obsidian armor got buffed to give +50% whip range, +50% whip speed, +43% summon damage, & +1 minion slot
this was obviously unbalanced, as it made the rest of pre-hm too easy & remained viable even against moonlord because of the whip range buff
in 1.4.1.2 it was nerfed to give a 31% increase summon damage instead of 43%, & the whip speed was nerfed to be 35% faster instead of 50%
despite the nerfs, it remained the strongest summoner armor set in pre-hm until 1.4.4 when it was nerfed again, this time nerfing the speed from a 35% increase to a 15% increase & crucially nerfing the whip range increase to only be 30% instead of 50%
obsidian armor is now a well balanced set, as you’re no longer forced to pick it over bee armor & it doesn’t make more than half the game a walk in the park
however, i really enjoyed using the obsidian armor in later parts of progression & although the tiki armor has gotten a 30% to its whip range, i think its sad that whip-focused summoner builds aren’t viable anymore
i think giving the tiki armor a buff so it played more similarly to old obsidian armor would be an amazing change, especially considering how many new whips we’re gonna be able to play around with in 1.4.5
it doesn’t need to be as powerful as 1.4.1 obsidian armor but maybe something like an additional +10% summon damage, +25% whip speed, & a 20% increase to the whip range in exchange for 2 minion slots would make tiki armor more fun to use
these stats can be adjusted but i really liked the option of prioritizing whips & wanna be able to do that again
