PS3 & PS4 Saved Data Request

I'm scared to transfer my save because it might slow down the progress on 1.3. I have a map that's legit broken and always crashes on the current version. I don't think it even crashes on PS3, just PS4.

If it's already broken, then they cannot use it anyways. So they wouldn't do anything with it.

Or that map could be read to find the error since they use the dev kit ps4... They had a way to enable god mode on ps4 in the martian video. The dev kit does let them read the error files which would be sent as a report to the developers normally if the game crashes. Not the normal multiplayer crash bug on exit since oddly those never get sent.

Shows most likely most of the settings for the dev kit but I think there's more built into the engine the game runs on also.

Ooh yeah. maybe looking for a rare bug in the save that they never fixed that can be fixed with 1.3! You know what? @ZangBa Send it in, it may help them even more than a normal save!

Sarcasm isn't needed. The thought that it's running on a new engine was the primary factor for the suggestion to send it. Another point of fact is they aren't handling current version bug fixes for consoles since its not their engine. This is my last reply on this subject as your attitude was very demeaning.

Honestly his reply didn't sound demeaning or sarcastic to me.

The map doesn't crash on load, but in a specific area, every single time. Most likely because it's trying to load some specific objects in the area and it gets confused or something, I don't know. I don't know if this is a bug the reworked version of the game will have or not, one of the updates on PS4 broke it.

I didn't know people took my enthusiasm as sarcasm. That's quite weird. It seems people don't expect enthusiastic people on these forums. (And trust me, there's still no sarcasm here.)

Anyways, you probably should still send it in. Just to be sure.

I did go ahead and send my save with a few screenshots - it's probably the most elaborate map they've had sent in, so at least it may be useful as a stress test for the new version. I hope they find it useful, it's way too big to take screenshots of every single area for comparison though.

To be clear, if in doubt, send it in. Even if something is broken now, it may or may not be with the new codebase.

Upside for everyone is it could surface a hidden bug... and addressing that could mean good things for everyone.

Downside is that it is indeed broken for some unknown reason (corruption?) and nothing is lost.

Good day, Terrarians!

Everyone here at Pipeworks is working incredibly hard to bring you the best update possible. It’s of vital importance to us that your saved data transfers over to the new update.

In order for us to do some additional testing we’d like to secure some saved game data from the community. It’s also important to note that the PS3 will not be receiving 1.3. This is for anyone looking to upgrade from PS3 to PS4

Note: This is specifically for PS3 & PS4 saved data. We are handling Xbox data internally.

You can find instructions on how to submit saved data to us below.

Insert a formatted USB stick into any open USB port on your console. For each console, follow these instructions, where ‘save data’ means your Terraria saves:

PS3: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/game/copysavedata.html
PS4: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/data_system.html

Once your save data is copied to the USB drive, insert the drive into your PC. Take the ‘PS4’ folder and compress it using your favorite file compression program.

Go to https://wetransfer.com/. Follow the on-screen interface to attach the save game file for transfer. Enter [email protected] as the destination address.

One last thing before you hit “Transfer,” please include your email address in the message field so we can confirm the details of your world are showing up as expected. If you feel like attaching some pictures of the way your world looked the last time you loaded it that would be useful!

Thanks for your support! We’re working to make this console Terraria patch the best one yet![/QUOTET

Thank you devs for working so hard on 1.3 for console we're all hyped

So if i have my PS4 and my worlds and players on it, when i update terraria, will it erase them, or will they still be there, also will it reset there inventories, should i save them on a USB to be safe?

Go ahead and save them if you want to be sure, but the update shouldn't hurt anything. No guarantees if you have any hacked items though, I'd remove them from any characters or worlds that are important to you.

The plan is that they should still work when the update occurs. Backing them up is always a good idea, though.

The purpose of this exercise is to get test cases to help ensure that indeed happens.

So, by the way the original post was worded. Xbox 360 is getting 1.3? From a personal standpoint, that might be good, saying I have family members who use Xbox 360, while I use PS4 and PC. Although, I don't think the 360 nor the PS3 are powerful enough to run 1.3. That update is huge.
