> Slimmer Female player sprite, with matching Armors and Clothing. (going back before Terraria 1.1.0)
> the Slimmer body, makes Armors appear more though and rugged.
> Legs stretching doing running animation instead of torso. (Since November 2011)
> Female versions of several Hostile NPC's. (100+)
> Gore bits for every sprite i have Created/Changed. (i know some have that off)

For Language Feature: I'm not going to touch any Language but English, outside Names.
But if your are non-english and want to and want to translate my edits to your language as an add-on
(and requiring my original pack; so please only a translation via .csv or .json within the translation add-on)
with a Naming similar to "{packname}: {Language} Translation add-on"

Anyway, nice work. I don't think it's something I'd personally want to use in its entirety, but I might pick out a few enemies to replace or something. Variety is always nice. It would also make a great resource for a mod that adds female alternates of mobs to the game. (Assuming you would allow it, of course.)

Variants, Options and Choice is nice. I have just not made up my mind, if I want to replace all male sprites with their female counterpart
but I'm leaning toward it.

"Female alternates" that is pretty much what I am making. :dryadwhat:
If it ware a mod/youtube/twitch it would be okay, as long you give credit* and linked back to this thread.
But a "Resource pack"... you'll have to convince me, as my Texture pack's pretty much is just that awell.

I meant if the sprites were a variant instead of a replacement. Meaning you could encounter both male and female Twiggy Zombies, for instance. To me that would be more desirable.
That sounds more like a mod to me. :dryadtongue:

Sadly I am a bit handicapped in the coding area of modding.
if that wasn't the case this could have been on the Mod board as well :dryadwink:

The thing is when i think a resource-packs. i think of a pack of sprites/textures, sounds, music and script files
That people created for other people to use, in their mod(s) :dryadrolleyes:

But, i guess i can make a Resource pack...
and maybe include some additional sprites i dropped.
but not before i have tinkered with the Terraria 1.3 Content update

Game-Bug: Missing hands and drills in front of hands for Robes

I'm not sure when i will update the Dryad-deer. either after or doing the core pack
it all depends on how the core pack is coming along.

But they are not shorter, they are just thinner with smaller hands. but with most Armor on they look similar to the original sprites
so armor looks like armor instead of a simple & cheap armor costume.

I wanted to work on updating some things for my terraria texture-mod a while ago, but found out the release date ware announced so, so i decided to wait in case i had to re-work something, over agian-agian. within a too short time frame for my liking.

One of the things i wanted to change with my design, ware the arms.
and so far i Completed 1/4 clothing style for each gender:

I'm not much into bumping my threads with "i have made a new texture", id rather have the thread be for discussions, question answers and actual updates. which is it all in a "W.I.P." Spoiler, easy to find.

It's going a bit slower then i would have liked... So i have been considering skipping the Hostile npc's till v1.8.1
aside those that is required to be updated to even work for Terraria 1.3 :dryadwink:

Yes, i noticed the texture name change for the Player character sprite(s)
which is something i had hoped to see for along time, and also the 4 Clothing sets for both Genders, is a nice surprice

Only player sprite textures that is still unisex (used for both) is: 0_0 (Head), 0_1 (eye), 0_2 (Eye Iris), but that do make sense. :dryadcool:

I have not gotten around too updating Armor or Clothing textures or Tinkering with the new Armor/Clothing textures as of yet
nor have i even got around to sorted them out yet... %:sigh:

Terraria was the first sprite game, that i made custom textures/sprites for. but it ware no where the first game I made textures for...
I had worked with 2D textures for 3D models for 6 years back then, as well a handful of 3D textures (Direct Draw Surface)
But i have since been tinkering with several sprite games, including some from my childhood like Commander Keen

I prefer modding alone, but I would not stop you from making your own add-on content. :dryadtongue:

Eahh I saw files it is must be to do it. Some files are renamed like Skin_body and Skin_legs, but it don't must be sad because now you can make differnt skin and legs to females.
I don't if it is true what you said, you should make this:
  • Armor_Legs_117 (male legs/pants for dryad costume)
  • Armor_Legs_118 (male pants for Gi armorcurrently bugger and is shown for females)
  • Armor_Legs_119 (male pants for Kimono vanity item, currently bugger and is shown for females)

I really like this texture pack, especially because before I felt like the size of the arm sprites were a little bit too big. It made it seem like everyone in the world of Terraria was super muscly and it looked weird. Now, the player/town NPC sprites are less derpy looking and, like you said in the original post, as a side-effect it also makes the armor look a lot thicker-- as plate armor should be, honestly.

I also like how you made a lot of female versions of the vanilla enemies for more variety. I wouldn't necessarily want to use all of them at once, but that's the glorious nature of modding: I don't actually have to. I spent around an hour looking through the pack, cross-referencing the .png version with the .xnb version picking and choosing which NPCs I wanted to replace and then grabbing their corresponding gore textures. I replaced the female variants already in the game with your versions because I thought they were way better, the goblin tinkerer with your female town NPC variant, and a few other select creatures and variants like the werewolf and standard zombie/Eyezor.

I have a question, though: When you're sure you're finished and satisfied with the default player sprite variants could you release that part separately? It's a pretty important part of the process of updating the texture pack to 1.3 and you don't necessarily have to wait until you finish more to be able release it for us. Just a thought, it isn't super important. We can wait.

Yes, it ware my idea from the start and I have stuck to it since.
Robes and Summoner Armor, does not have that much Defense compared to Melee/Tank & Ranged of the same tier.
The Pre-Hardmode Armor's defense is is pretty much the same around for the same tier
Some just look better as a thin armor, others looks better as Big Bulk of metal armor :dryadgrin:

It wasn't an side effect, it ware an intentional idea. :dryadwink:
the shape of the male sprite ware a side effect of the "Hand" textures, and later added "Arm" texture ware used for Both genders :dryadconfused:
Now in 1.3 only the Head, Eye and Iris are unisex, which is Great! :dryadgrin:
Until when you notice, that all Arms textures for Armor and Vanity clothing still is Unisex... :dryadeek:


This texture-mod is much older then This forum, the first version ware released in November 2011, :dryadtongue:
back then it ware mainly just a Female player sprite (as there ware none) and Armor and Clothing for it
The Female versions of Npc's have been add over the years

Back a few Versions (a year) ago the textures ware still in .png and Required T.C.C.L.
and I just decided to remove the requirement of a 3rd party Custom texture enabler
as I could not do any testing until T.C.C.L. ware updated...
no matter how big or small the content update ware... %-_-

Back then you could see what X texture ware, now you have to have a Tool or plug-in to view them outside the game, just to see what is what
so the (first world) issues you have, where you don't know right away what X texture is, and what other corresponding textures of it
that is something i just forgot... as you can only juggle so many balls at a time, or actually modding projects in this case... %:sigh:
I needed to be able to make textures in .xnb textures to do some proper Tinkering with 2 Other Games, one of them Being Chasm.

I have plans for a package, that is a Huge sortiment of the textures, with Numb3rs and names.
Pretty much like my work folders, with .xnb textures instead of .png and without the Photo-shop documents & Checklists :dryadtongue:


The new Player sprite isn't Compatible with the Cloth, Dresses/Robes or Summoner Armor, Current available or Original
i decided skipping on the enemy NPC's (Gibs included), unless the once that will cause issues...
like the Red Devil. which have 5 Frames now, instead of 2. Though I think it's the only one. :dryadcool:

The only thing i'm not really satisfied with for the player sprite, is the off-hand doing the swing/grapple
when in non-armor, Summoner armor, and Default clothing. but I might have tweaked that out before I release it :dryadwink:
I'm not much for releasing W.I.P. content, unless someone is really into bug hunting

I planed on updating the alternate packs afterward
and I'm considering reworking the jump for the "off-hand Shield" and "Robes with Tomes"

If you look the Original to be a Body builder, and then compare a Body builder to a normal average person. you would notice the head is not lager on a body builder, sure the rest of the body up to (and including) the neck is
but what muscle in the head is going to be smaller... %-_-

The Sprite is 1-2 (2:1) pixels thinner, 1 on each side
the hand size is shrunk from 3x3p to 2x2p
and the arm width is shrunk from 3p to 2p

The Gastropod, is a Snail which I think is pretty gross and it dropped Gel just like Slimes did. so I made a Hollowed version of Slimer :dryadtongue:

But Texture wise.... i'm near 200 Textures and the The Armor, Clothing and Dev sets, that is more then 550 textures
i'm sure most of the Armor's just need a tweak here or there if any, which is why there is a "?" completed
but can't say the same for the Vanity sets, at least 3 textures per set will have to be re-Drawn for the new Arm design
