PC Terraria 1.3.0.6 - Cheese the Moon Lord - Defense Stack

Well, I can't beat it anymore on expert because it takes more hand and eye coordination and *twitchiness* than I have... I am sure the 14 year olds get off on things like *kiting* and dodging and jumping around like a crazy person, but I prefer making a quality arena and using the tools the developers have given us in the game to do as much of the battle work for us as possible.

... if the youngsters on here think using traps to help win a fight is cheesy, they don't need to use them. The problem is they feel the need to impose their ideas on the rest of us... and that is wrong. Play the way you want to, and stay out of other peoples' business...

I am hoping for new, advanced traps that can take down the Moon Lord in less than 5 seconds... I hope they put them in the game... I will use them... and anyone that doesn't like it can kiss my you-know-what... how I play the game is nobody's business but my own... there is no *legit* way to play... EVERY weapon and armor upgrade makes it easier to battle all the bosses... deciding to buff up the bosses so only the advanced or *good* players can win is stupid game design... it needs to be setup so that the AVERAGE person can win the boss battles... the really good players SHOULD BE ABLE TO WIN WITH THEIR EYES CLOSED. Not complain about it being too easy...

I think expert mode should be hard and for the really good players... but NORMAL mode should be for fun...

I've wanted Spear traps to be able to turn sideways for a long time now(Have a mod in tAPI that does it already even...). Some other traps would be awesome, maybe Acid Traps and Laser Traps just as a couple quick ideas.

For those wanting to use this method but still having trouble.
Couple of tips:
  1. It's not necessary to activate the buffs individually. If you hit the Quick Buff key (default: B), you will activate every buff in your current inventory at once. This will save you a lot of time.
  2. Since there is a ~1m wait time between summoning Moon Lord and him actually appearing, it's best to summon him first, then wait to activate the buffs (except for the buff from the Bewitching Table) until just before he appears. I would wait until you see the flash of light to hit the Quick Buff key.

You know, call me crazy but this is actually one of my great fears. That someday my reflexes and coordination will fail and that I can't finish games anymore (or do other fun stuff that require coordination). I'm not quite 14 years old anymore myself. :p

But I do wonder if this is really a game developer's problem. In the case of this game it already requires a whole lot of coordination, the key to winning is afterall to dodge like there's no tomorrow. So people with disabilities like poor eyesight or arthritis or <insert something else here> will have a problem. When creating a game a developer simply can't address everyone's needs. If they were forced to then it'd be a completely different game than they had in mind.

An option is to get friends aboard and finish the game together. With a friend the Moon Lord doesn't stand a chance.

Another option is to look around on the forums and see what kind of tactic you can use to kill the Moon Lord. So far I've got two easy ways to do it and none of them requires cheesing.

If all else fails, cheats are a good last resort. Although they usually turn a game into a bore, removing the satisfaction of completing something the way it was meant to be, at least you can finish the game you started. And for pc games there'll always be cheats.

I had no idea about the quick buff key, WOW! lol HUGE time saver :p. Thank you!

I have no idea why there isn't a mod that just outright removes the changes the devs made to the Moon Lord post-release.

Not a problem. :) There are Quick Heal (H), Quick Mana (J), and Quick Buff (B) keys. They add so much ease to the game.
Sometimes the button flat out doesn't work on some buffs if they seconds left. For me anyway.
It only uses potions/foods/what-have-you for buffs that are not presently active at all. In any case, hitting B multiple times still beats having to hunt down potions for buffs that have expired in your inventory.

Give it time. :)

I was just trying to make the video more dramatic LOL! Is anyone actually buying that? :p

Oh wow... those are cool... I didn't know about them, either... :)

I just beat the Moon Lord twice without firing a shot... took me from 500 life down to about 450 two or three times, but that was it... my dragon staff and lunar portal staff killed it while I just stood on a 3-wide wooden platform in beetle armor and watched (I did click to reactivate the lunar portal staff several times, but that was it)... summoned him at 2:02, he arrived at 2:53am and died at 8:53am without me firing a shot or using any health potions... or taking any damage from anything but the Moon Lord... :)

I am happy again... not sure if the devs decided to ease up on us (this was normal mode - not expert) or not, but knowing I can summon it and go to the bathroom and come back and it is dead makes me a happy camper :)

Still a legit strategy.

This is not a cheese,He is just using defensive items to make him extremely resilient damage.Alos some proper arena aren't considered cheese,so I don't see how he's Cheesing

would using the nurse be considered cheesing? I mean, the sole reason she exists is to heal the player, right?

So you're saying it's wrong to use her to heal up at crucial moments? (so what if I have a crucial moment ever 5 seconds?)
