Items The Completionist's Chest

Lord Garak

Wall of Flesh
This is a relatively simple item suggestion with a very clear purpose directed towards the "final" update. It will probably be my final suggestion on this forum.

The chest would be 4x4 tiles, and feature a perpetual rainbow sheen. The interior would look like a regular chest, except equip with a scrollbar due to its lengthy nature. Each interior tile would have the faded silhouette of a unique item in Terraria: A piece of armor, a weapon, an accessory, or a tool- each organized by category, and then by its place in progression. Every single item (except for those unobtainable within the currently occupied world) falling into these categories would be represented with a tile, and due to the obvious drawbacks of this the chest UI would fill as much screenspace as possible without overlapping onto other UI elements. 4 toggleable buttons would enable a player to change the visibility of each category of item. 5 more buttons would toggle class subsections within each category, the 5th being "miscellaneous".

Upon placing an accepted item within the chest a short audio acknowledgement would be played, and a much smaller version of the "ripple" effect accompanying the Celestial Pillars would radiate from the chest. A progress bar at the top would display the progress towards completing the currently selected parameters. Once every enabled slot in a player's chest is filled the chest would play a party horn sound effect and spits out some confetti. The deafening silence that follows bears recognition to the player's complete lack of respect for their own time.

In all seriousness this item is less meant for rewarding completionists like me, and more so just for making it easier to organize items and track progress when on such a quest as collecting every single one. Logistically the categorization and efficiency of easily moving items in and out of the chest was more difficult to consider than I anticipated, and I understand if that is used as a basis for my idea's dismissal. Even a vastly simplified version of this concept, however, would be much appreciated.

Essentially, the item counterpart to the bestiary that is being added. Support from me, but I don't see it necessary being a chest you would need to place. I imagine it would be more convenient if both the bestiary and the completion catalog will be UI elements we can access from the get-go. If this is not the case, then we can simply make it a book-like item we can craft not too far into the game. That way, we can access it from there, but it still takes an inventory slot if we wish to keep it with us.

I can see either, I made it a chest because I figured it would be less time-consuming than developing an entire bestiary alternative and an actual physical space to store all those items, unlike enemies which are not stored but encountered.

I would like some kind of item encyclopaedia to match the bestiary. I am a completionist though, so I might be kind of biased there. Would you be able to remove items from the chest once placed or are they lost?
