The mystery of: What the heck are the cultists doing at the dungeon? has finally been solved.
They are contacting the Moon, and influencing it to cause all manner of things to happen.
What it is:
This machine uses the Mysterious Tablet as a power source to create a beam to shoot into the sky, causing events such as a blood or pumpkin moon to occur.
You select an event via the switches beneath the tablet. In order from left to right: New Moon, Celestial Events, Frost Moon, Full Moon, Blood Moon, Pumpkin Moon
Nitty-gritty detail:
The cog wall behind the tablet caries its "mysterious energy" down and to the right, into the Reaction Chamber(Diamond gem lock chamber). Then the energy is split into four and is broadcast up into the Diamond gem lock converter, where is changes into portal energy. After zooming into the Portal Difference engine, the Beam Generator creates the beam. The Manipulation Polarizer alters the beam, encoding information that then influences the Moon.
The waterfall caries rainwater off of the roof, and empties it into a small pool, essentialy being a gutter. The Cultists aren't barbarians.
