I'm wearing the familiar wig with twilight hair dye and it seems completely broken, failing to alter my hair in any way:

Here is what it looks like when I unequip the familiar wig.

(I'm using a private texture pack I made which recolors some of the inventory to appear green, I tried disabling it and it didn't seem to have any effect, I didn't replace hair in it but it's probably worth mentioning.)

I only used it in the first place because the familiar wig normally lets you stack normal dyes with hair dyes, and I wanted a try out a green version of the twilight hair dye effect, so that's unfortunately not an option for me. Thank you for trying though.
Yep, well I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey uh, I would like to report that this bug is still in the game. Any chance of it getting fixed? It seems to have not been noticed last time.

Is this an issue with your character's hair or the familiar wig reflecting that?

And do you need to use hair dye remover before applying a new hair dye?

I don't think this is a bug, I'm pretty sure this happens because the Familiar Wig can be used with regular Dyes.

The Familiar Wig seems to have three slots:
Color
Fullbright
Effect

Most hair dyes simply adjust the Color, and Martian Hair dye adjusts the Color (makes it slightly brighter) and makes it more Fullbright. Because Fullbright isn't an effect and can be applied to literally everything, the effect slot is left open.

The effect slot is used for the effects given by Strange Dyes, like Living Ocean or Living Rainbow or Shifting Sands or Hades or Phase dye or... Twilight dye. I'm guessing you can only have one effect on at once, because some effects would conflict with each other.

Twilight Hair Dye uses the exact same effect as Twilight Dye, meaning it would occupy that effect slot. So to avoid bad things happening (most likely), the game simply ignores Twilight Hair Dye to keep that effect slot reserved for the regular dye slot dyes.
