Single Thread RP Winds of Destruction

Incendiary

Skeletron Prime
Not to be confused with the villain PMC group from the hit 2013 video game Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Terror. The driving force behind the conquering of foreign lands too weak to resist your power. An unstoppable force breaking through an easily moveable object. All you need to survive is domination. Pay no attention to those that fall at your knees, and crush those that oppose your wrath. But no two worlds are ever the same. There will always be someone ready to put you in your place. Sometimes, that may be the very people you're trying to destroy. What they lack, however, is firepower. And you have just that.

Kyrasteria is the largest habitable planet in its system at 195,468 kilometres in diameter, over 15 times that of our own Earth. With such large size, comes an even larger diversity of landscapes, climates and lifeforms. Human-like races and intelligent species have formed their own societies over many millennia with varying levels of success, ranging from medieval-era technologies to far-future advancements, relative to our planet. No one species dominates the planet, but not all show an interest in working together, either. Long and brutal wars between two or more nations or races have been all too common for the inhabitants. Things have toned down as the years passed, with treaties or alliances bringing relative peace to these societies. That isn't to say something isn't brewing...

Kyrasteria has very few huge landmasses despite having a higher percentage of stable, dry land at 42%, with many large islands dotted across the surface rather than continents. Only 3 true continents actually exist on the planet, and over 60 closely linked island regions fill in the rest. 2 of the largest oceans separate all the continents with many thousands of kilometres of barren water. With this in mind, a lot of the nations have been kept apart with their lack of naval technology. At this moment, Kyrasteria has 165 nations. Out of those, only 45 have access to long distance water craft, and only 4 have capable long range aircraft. Despite this, most of them are quite prosperous, taking advantage of their resource-rich environments to build villages, towns, some even cities. Trading is a crucial element of the economy, with those who are capable offering goods and services to fellow nations. Travel and tourism is also common.

Kyrasteria has an insane number of biomes, climates, flora and fauna. Towering rainforests with blue-purple foliage twisting through tall mountains, barren rocky deserts filled with caves and craters, dense temperate woodlands packed into valleys, and everything in between. Some species are widespread and adapt well to most environments. Others are highly localized or endangered. Common fauna include six-legged "bobcats", spear-headed "antelope" and diamond back "hawks" (make up your own), they look basically how you'd expect and there's not a lot of difference from our animals (world building 101).
Habitat loss, pollution and deforestation are less of a global problem thanks to the planet's size, the ecosystem's ability to offset instability and growing efforts from more advanced civilizations.
Kyrasteria's many nations may not all be on the best terms with each other, but now is not the time for war amongst ourselves. We have a greater threat, one that could destroy the planet as we know it. They are the inhabitants of Axylation, a planet inhabited by highly advanced humanoid beings who intend to conquer the worlds around them. "Axylators" are ruthless, lack empathy towards other races, wage wars on nearby planets for fun and focus most of their efforts on building weapons of mass destruction. Their latest inventions? Mobile fortresses, known as "Intergalactic Strategic Armoured Destroyers" to the Axylators and as the "Winds of Destruction" by the nations of Kyrasteria. They may be slow, traveling at only a few kilometres per hour on account of the sheer size, but once within range, the arrays of railguns, plasma cannons, ion blasters and artillery will decimate entire sections of the planet within a few years. Only 3 Winds of Destruction exist right now, but numbers don't matter. They can travel over land and sea, annihilating anything from the smallest islands to the three big continents. And if a Wind of Destruction is taken down, hundreds of thousands of armed troops, plus thousands more combat trained crew, are ready for action.
Players are free to create characters from either Kyrasteria or Axylation, although this story mostly revolves around Kyrasteria and only events from this world are considered important. Players are free to create lore, but I can always give directions if you're unsure, or adjust lore if I feel it really doesn't fit the world. This is semi-freeform, so players have freedom to interact with their surroundings and build their environment, but events and major lore will come from me.

There is no signup form, just give us a character's name, their nation and a hex code when you first post. Filler characters do not need hex codes, just names.

For players with characters from Kyrasteria, your main operating base is the "Steel Sanctuary", located close to the city of Prometheus Prime. The base itself is built around the husk of a Wind of Destruction prototype that was easily overpowered. For players with characters from Axylation, most events will occur on ISAD "Iridescent Blossom" or "Wind of Destruction II".

The goal of Kyrasteria is to protect its citizens, form a resistance and defend their planet against any and all hostile forces.
The goal of Axylation is to destroy Kyrasteria's inhabitants and harvest its remaining natural resources.

Please ask any questions you have on my profile.
All players are expected to follow general forum rules. Be nice. Don't make OP characters. Don't metagame or powerplay. Do not kill or badly injure other main player characters unless you explicitly ask and get approval. Don't dictate major events or try retconning other people's decisions. Only I can do that.
Most of the RP world can be built upon by others, but please leave major elements to me. If something has already been established, do not ignore or reject it, unless others agree that it does not fit the world. Work together, don't try to tear things apart.

*Gasp* I love this RP concept. And I have a chance to create the first villain character mwahaha.

Zhere, Axylation, #358ab5
He’s a strange humanoid creature, war hardened, more machine than organic now.

Zhere feels like crushing someone’s skull. All the idiots on the Wind of Destruction II that he has to put up with are so used to following orders that they can’t think for themselves at this point. Why’d they have to station him here? He’s not a manager, he’s a conqueror!

“If you come to me one more time because you’re experiencing ‘technical difficulties’ you’ll join Baphma in the trash hole! Go get the tech guys by yourself!”

He throws the Axylator he was talking to back onto the floor.

(My first :red:ing thought was
)

(Aaaanyways… let me scope this out..)
(HEAT OF THE DESERT
DUST SETTLES ON MY FACE
WITHOUT A COMPASS, THE SOLDIER KNOWS NO DISGRACE
OUT OF THE ASHES, THE EAGLE RISES STILL,
FREEDOM IS CALLING TO ALL MEN WHO BEND THEIR WILL)

The Axylator scurries off and disappears among crowds of workers.

The sounds of metal clanking and thumping echoes through the hall nearby. It's somebody... familiar...

"Major Zhere, we require your presence on the main bridge. The time has come for our next move." Commander Vandal's heavy armour makes it very obvious they're present.

Zhere’s exasperation vanishes at the prospect of war.

“Of course, commander.”

(HERE I AM-

with a question)

(What are the limits to the size of a character? I was considering a massive mechanized aquatic beast from a fallen civilization that guards the ruins of a mechanized city.)

(And by massive I mean a giant :red:ing worm leviathan thing like 3 miles long)

(I'm only going to allow people from the many nations of Kyrasteria as playable characters, sorry. You can still have your mech leviathan, but not as a main character)
(My only question is, what be me limitations on creating my usual brand of man-made horrors beyond our comprehension?)
(Keep it reasonable and try to keep conflicts 2 sided (Kyrasteria vs Axylation) for consistency)

(May i perchance DM you my idea? Don't wish to cause any issues)

(Guess it won’t hurt to add some more detail)

Zhere points to one of the higher ranking Axylators.

“You! You’re in charge until I come back. Don’t mess up, or you know what might happen!”

Then he follows commander Vandal.

(Eh, :red: it. I’ll just drop the idea. A giant mechanized fish has no point if it has no reason to exist.)

(I want to do something new.. but it feels like I’ve done everything…)

"As you know, we depart for our target 'Kyrasteria' in 20 light-cycles. Strategic planning is the most crucial element for a successful invasion, and we must devise an effective list of tactics before deployment,"
(1 Light-Cycle is equivalent to 33 Earth-Hours or 1.375 days)

“I assume by now we know what we’re up against?”
