NPCs & Enemies A town pet wyvern/dragon that helps defend the town

TOWN WYVERN/DRAGON
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Here Is my suggestion, a town NPC/Pet wyvern that flies around your base and helps defend it with its sole purpose of base defense, you get it after the Cultists or Moonlord , perhaps you buy it from the Zoologist or maybe you craft something with the same function as the pet license's at the Ancient Manipulator using all the different Celestial fragments and some lunar ore. You create like a "Dragon Stone" or something, perhaps it's an item you place and it guards around it within a certain block radius or maybe it's a consumable similar to the license's.

Edit: What problem does this addition fix? Well beyond just being cool because dragons, it is all too common for several NPC's to die during things like invasions without any proper way to defend them beyond traps or a meticulously built base (A.k.a a bunch of floating wooden boxes in the air) even at that it's not entirely reliable, we have all had the situation where a npc has died on us out of nowhere and we were nowhere near them to protect them ourselves. Especially when your busy fighting a boss and don't have time for normal enemies. So this is what this addition serves to fix by adding a npc that is dedicated to base defense. Additionally it can be useful to guard a player who is just building. I have found that when playing classes other than summoner I have to constantly stop to slay enemies when building in a hostile area.

But you can only have one Wyvern/Dragon per world.

It can have various names and different pallets. And functions similar to the Stardust Dragon but maybe with a added breath attack that can go through blocks to make fighting through houses and structures easier.

Name suggestions
1. Cinder
2. Jörmungandr
3. Dova
4. Fafnir
5.Tiamat
6. Mushu
7. Drake

Just something as a reward for beating the game and to perhaps help with defending players while building who are not summoner.

But to keep things fair it does no damage to bosses to avoid cheesing bosses with it.

That's my suggestion : )

But of course, if on the off chance Re-logic actually implements this you can change it however you want or as you feel needed.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: To elaborate. If it's a object that is placed, perhaps it can be like a grave or memorial and it's the spirit of the wyvern/dragon defending it. You can pet it or disable it by pressing the object. For petting it just teleports too you.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit 2: Disabled for old ones army.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit 3: Stats.
If classified as a NPC and not a projectile like a summon. It's Health would be. 1500/2000/3500. On classic/expert/master mode respectively. It's so high given it's purpose is Defense.

It's defense is 40/50/60 base not accounting for advanced combat techniques 1 or 2 if it does indeed work on it at all.

Size. About 1.5 of the phantasmal dragon that you fight.

Speed: about .80 percent of the Stardust Dragon.

Contact Damage is 50/60/80 per segment on classic/expert/master mode respectively.

breath attack is 500/600/800 damage respectively on classic/expert/master mode. With a 10 second cool down before it can use it again. Its breath attack is approximately 10 tiles long and works through blocks, given it will be using it mostly in towns or places with lots of structures. And it inflicts Hellfire. Breath attack speed is slow.

it is tethered 500 tiles left and right of the object or building it is tied too depending on which interpretation used, and 250 tiles above and below where it is tied too. It cannot go past those points.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit 4: I can draw some concept art for it later when I Have free time.

sounds like a cool idea but it should be completely disabled during bosses and invasions like goblin invasion

Would the "Pet" option still be allowed if it were a town pet?

For invasions I think it would be fine but it doesn't deal damage to invasion bosses in my opinion, but re-logic can do whatever with it if they use the idea.

this is a suggestion that goes hard

like for real, i saw it and i went "oh HELL YES"
I mean who doesn't like noodle dragons? Plus I think base defense is something that can have some more work done on it. It's not uncommon for a bunch of npcs to die in a invasion assuming you don't spend 20 hours making a extremely fortified base or 10 minutes on a bunch of floating boxes.

What are its stats? How big is it? How fast does it move? How much damage does it do?

I'll be honest, I'm no expert for the technical terms and developer stats that they mess with behind the scenes, but I can give a rough estimate.

How big, about 1.5 the size of the phantasmal dragon.

Speed: about .80 of the stardust dragon

Contact damage around 80 per segment. With its breath attack around 400 plus Hellfire status. With a cool down of at least 10 seconds before it can use its breath again. It phases through walls but can go no further than 500 tiles left and right and no more than 250 tiles up and down from its source either block or house its assigned too depending how its treated and classified.

That said if you have any idea for stats of your own you can go ahead and say them : ) or if there's anything I missed.

this is Nice, I have wanted my NPC's actually defended for a while, but I do see some problems with it against bosses. I say have it not deal damage to bosses, but events will have it work fine (I swear I always lose a random NPC from 300 blocks away during events, they NEED protection)

I think no damage against bosses would be overall the most fair for it.
