Weapons & Equip Idea: Light pets in regular pet slots without the light

The idea is essentially that the light pets can be equipped on regular pet slots without the light. For example, you could equip the Suspicious looking Tentacle in light pet slot and Wisp in a bottle in regular pet slot, Suspicious looking Tentacle would produce light and show treasure while Wisp in a bottle would be just here as a regular pet.

This would make the player be able to equip two light pets, one for vanity and one for light. It would also allow for more pet combinations.

Actually? Yes this is a good idea. Support

I never thought of that.
that is so cool but it might take a lot of coding :(

So much in fact I added it to my favorite ideas list but I could remove it if you want
No, keep it there!

I am not a programmer but I dont think this would be too hard
What they should probably do is to make it so that the light pets dont produce light if they are put on a regular pet slot
If light_pet_slot == false:
>light_pet_light == false

Should be like only a few lines.

Suggestion is cool, and we can elaborate on this idea more:
Make both pet slots compatible with light and regular pets with full functionatity, so that "Pet set bonuses" are availiable
For light pets, cool effects with light, particles, some effects like dangersense etc.
For regular pets, some cool interactions between them (like, pet shadow mimic tries to jump and bite someone, or Baby Imp tries to hide hell cakes in it)

If light pets can be equipped in normal pet slots without the light, why cant normal pets be equipped in light pet slots? At that point you are playing with the self imposed disadvantage of not having a light pet, but should the player not have that choice?

A while ago I suggested converting the current "light pet" slot to a "functional pet" slot, since, you know, chester exists. And yes, making this change could open the door to other useful pets! There's a few concepts I came up with in the linked post.

Great minds think alike. I was just thinking that. Some pets could perhaps have unique interactions when you have two of the same one, or perhaps certain other pets. Perhaps there could be one that, when you equip two of the same pet item, summons one larger one rather than two: that expert mode king slime pet?
