Hello all, Derpo here with another suggestion. This one is about shortswords, and how to make them useful. I'm sure you're just about to make a comment telling me that this has already been done fifty-four-thousand times. And then you'll provide a link taking me to SZGamer's amazing shortsword thread. I've seen his thread. I've seen most of the other "buff shortswords!" threads. Thing is, mine is different. Well, sorta.
I too am one of the many people who want shortswords to be buffed, but I propose that they be buffed in a unique way.
I suggest that if a shortsword is held and the right mouse button is pressed, the sword will be thrown. The sword will travel 5 blocks further than a throwing knife/shuriken, and return's instantly to your inventory upon contact. I am also adding more shortswords.
All of the current shortswords have nothing added other than the throw. The throw does an added 5 damage to whatever the sword's base damage is (this applies only to the current shortswords).
Any secondary damage is the damage of the throw.
First of the the new shortswords is:
Light's Adversary
Crafting:

15 damage/21 damage
Usetime: 7
Nothing special about this sword other than a very fast use time.
Meathook
Crafting:

13 damage/10 damage
Can become lodged in an enemy dealing constant damage for 3 seconds, hitting 2 times a second. Drops after 3 seconds.
Usetime: 10
Shortsaber
Crafting:
x10, Any gem x5
16 damage/12 damage
Pierces 3 times and provides light.
Usetime: 10
Minimasa
Found in dungeon chests
13 damage/20 damage
Auto re-use enabled, provides a small amount of light.
Usetime: 8
Stub of Grass
Crafting:
x10,
x7
20 damage/25 damage
Poisons enemies.
Usetime: 12
Fiery Shortsword
Crafting:
x15
25 damage/ 30 damage
Explodes on contact.
Usetime: 13
Midnight's Sting

Provides long-lasting light (light lasts 2x longer than Dark Lance light).

Projectile flies at the speed of a bullet therefore making it travel farther.

Mythril Needle

Abnormally high crit chance of 45%

Adamantite Poker

Confuses enemies, backstabs are critical, doe not apply to backless enemies
Usetime: 10
Palladium Knife

29 damage/34 damage
can be thrown 3 times before returning
Usetime: 9 (2 second cooldown after third throw, cooldown only applies to throwing)
Orichalcum Kukri
Crafting:
x7
31 damage/37 damage
Slows enemies drastically and can be thrown to the edge of the screen
Titanium Shiv
Crafting:
x7
34 damge/35 damage
Pierces 3 times and has a damageing after-image
Usetime: 12
Carnwennan

Provides light, pierces twice, projectile has no dropoff
