Items Shadow Flame Summoner Summon Item

It has never made sense to me how one of the only summoner based enemies in the game doesn't drop a summon weapon and I have wanted a summon staff from this enemy for so long. The minion could be based on the shadowflame aparition and it could deal shadow flame damage. Having one would add much needed variety to pre-mech summoning items and be especialy helpful before you can get the blade staff from queen slime

I guess this would make sense if they were named "Goblin Summoner" but the enemy is called "Goblin Warlock" they aren't a summoner. For Queen Slime I suggest using Abigail's Flower with Firecracker

Yep, only Warlock he became only in 1.4.4.6, before that being Summoner, with the explanation of this change just because of the lack of summoner weapons.
It would actually be really nice if the developers would add more minions at the beginning of hardmode, including for the Goblin Army.

Theres plenty of viable minions early hm

I'm skeptical of Abigail's power, but since I haven't used her in hardmode, I won't argue.
But even assuming she is indeed powerful in hardmode, having the only normal hardmode start minion be the game's start minion (albeit getting buffs in hardmode) is not normal.
I believe by just the fact that they changed Goblin Summoner's name to Goblin Warlock that we won't see a new summoner weapon from the Goblin Army. However I would like to see buffs to pirates and maybe some new summon weapons in other places. Then again, the amount of summon weapons doesn't need to be as diverse as the weapons you have access to at the start of the game. You simply need them to be able to kill 1 boss, that be it Queen Slime, Twins, or Dreadnautilus. Abigail gets an upgrade in hardmode then as well you unlock the Firecracker whip which makes her more than capable of defeating Destroyer, Queen Slime, or Dreadnautilus

This is definitely the case. Redigit has said he’s not turning the Warlock back into a Summoner and won’t be adding a shadowflame summoner weapon. It seems like he’s doing this to troll us or just out of spite.

Even dropping shadowflame fragments to be turned into a "flask of shadowflame" would be useful, as it would imbue your whip.

It would also give the whole even a purpose in hardmode.
Shadowflame provides the same DPS as Hellfire and less than Cursed Inferno. Such a vial would be pretty useless.

What are they? Spiders and pirates are garbage.
Blade Staff requires defeating a boss, Sanguine Staff requires defeating Dreadnautilus, who although not technically a boss, is a serious threat to the player.
Spiders arent bad

Abigail exists

Spiders are bad. Despite, in fact, more than good DPS, their peculiarities make them suitable only against normal mobs and completely unsuitable against bosses.
I've already said everything about Abigail earlier.

Yeah, place thousands of walls just to kill one boss.
I put up walls in the summoner walkthrough, and it was definitely not a pleasant experience. Especially in my opinion they didn't help that much: in the first phase they handled Queen Slime more or less normally, since she moves slowly and close to the ground, but in the second phase I think Cool Whip did most of the work, not the spiders, who simply couldn't keep up with her.
