Honestly, I enjoyed the last part. It was nice to get away from the multiple Kirito-destroys-everything idea and explore their life as they live it, and the final episode... I may have cried a bit.
It may not have followed the rest of the series (in terms of genre, if that makes any sense), but it was executed fairly well for what it was.
